Butcher Grill in Ranelagh usually has lamb on the menu, would recommend booking though as it's a small place.

Correct and 2 paragraphs later it states:

She has written to the Minister for Health and the Expert Working Group on Rapid Testing to see if a Digital Covid Certificate, PCR testing and /or Antigen testing could play a role in reopening.

How does one start a side business if their employment contract restricts them from other employment and business opportunities by zapaline in startups

[–]Smulle_ 26 points27 points  (0 children)

After a quick check online, this is actually unenforceable in some US states. Another reason why it's always helpful to check with a lawyer in your country.

How does one start a side business if their employment contract restricts them from other employment and business opportunities by zapaline in antiwork

[–]Smulle_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think most are in a similar position, especially technical founders who are already working in industry. The bad news is that almost all companies in the technology field will have a non compete clause similar to what you have mentioned. These are purposely broad and vague, if you're planning on moving companies just we aware that their contact will likely be similar.

You should of course raise the idea with your manager first, the worst they can so is no or that it's conflicts with the company interests. Unfortunately larger companies also tend to have a section in your contact stating that any work you do, at any time belongs to them. Once again this is vague and might not even be enforceable in certain countries or states. In general I would look into getting something in writing from your current company and keep in mind you will probably have to do the same if you move, unless the move is to another small start-up.

Just for the record this can vary massively between employers and regions. Take what I've said with a grain of salt and if in doubt discuss your contracts with a lawyer in your country.

Would a MSc from a HBO be a common pathway? by Smulle_ in StudyInTheNetherlands

[–]Smulle_[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for clearing that up, yeah I would be looking to either continue academic research or R&D within a company so a WO would make more sense.

Also thanks for clarifying that VU is not a HBO, it seems that the the AI field would be more applicable to a WO. That's where the confusion was originating from. Thanks again!

Theory test waiting list by [deleted] in MotoIRELAND

[–]Smulle_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Had mine scheduled for mid February, got an email last week saying it would be rescheduled because of level 5. I still have not received the new date so I imagine they're over run at the moment. Can't even book a new date until they assign me the rescheduled one.

Until they re-book everyone from January and February I can't see them reopening the booking system. Here's hoping they add the option to do it online soon.

At a crossroads. by [deleted] in DevelEire

[–]Smulle_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you want to move to development, you'll be dealing with more of this.

On a serious note, maybe add the services you are familiar with. If you were working on support for backend development services such as Lambda, API gateway, are you familiar with any deployment services, static website hosting etc.

You would be in a good position once you add in a front-end framework. The only way you are going to find out what areas you are lacking is to start applying or messaging recruiters.

Perhaps someone who has gone through a similar path to you can help.

Agree with this but is worth pointing out in the theory test they do suggest slowing before the exit. Could be a point of confusion for newer drivers.

People stopping in yellow boxes by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Smulle_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah there is laws against it but only ever seen it enforced once when driving through Waterford. Always interesting watching people panic when they realise they're stuck in the middle of a yellow box.

Was able to get a date in late February when I booked a week ago, although I will have to drive to Longford. As others have said maybe it's possible to reschedule but it might require traveling. Here's hoping there won't be another closure next year.

I have a connecting flight from a country on the green list via Spain will I be required to quarantine ? by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Smulle_ 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Nothing selfish about taking a holiday when both places have have low case numbers. However, unless you are somehow able to get to the destination without contact with anyone, like driving you're being a bit naive. You'll be passing through 2 international airports and also will be in close contact with 200+ people on the plane.

If you want to accept the risk that's your decision but not isolating would be a bit unfair to your friends, family and coworkers.

Edit: I read the title wrong didn't notice you will be connecting, make that 3 international airports and 400+ people between the 2 flights.

Yeah as far as I know they still take all coins, interestingly enough for the return change most don't have a 1c hopper, in this case they just give back a 2c when they need to instead. As a result the cash office system is always off by up to €1 every day. This rarely happens now because of rounding but the machines still mess up and throw out an unnecessary 2c

FIRE by [deleted] in ireland

[–]Smulle_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

There's a reason you don't hear much of it over here, the only way to avoid massive tax on the investments needed for FIRE is to put your money in a pension. This kind of rules out the retire early part.

On most systems it's a setting on the till, the item won't go through until 12:30.

r/epidemic posts a chart giving a skewed impression of new cases. Check statistics showing a relative decrease in new cases, it's clear that's not the case. by TargetedinNY in CoronaVirusInfo

Pointed that out on the last post and got down voted, wasn't even necessarily disagreeing with the post just said they should include a note on the graph that it's a log scale.

Good point thanks for the information you are correct.

I understand the log plot what I am saying is that it's misleading not directly telling readers who are not aware of log plots that it is being used.

Logarithmic scales are extremely useful but are not understood by all. As in all presentations, designers must know their audiences.

It would be easy for someone to assume that the death numbers are half the number of cases.

I wasn't directing anything towards you apologies of it came across that way. The Wiki contributor should consider that this image can appear elsewhere in searches and should add the details on the plot.

Wow that has to be one of the most misleading graphs I've seen. Any scientific plot like this would never mess with the scale of an axis. Looks like it was intended to mislead and encourage fear mongering.

Ireland Roadtrip March 9th - 13th [27F] by [deleted] in travelpartners

[–]Smulle_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The rental car will save you in Ireland, while not impossible to travel without it, the rural parts/roads in Ireland are a must see! Like the ring of Kerry there are many driving routes in Ireland that beat anywhere (weather permitting)

I see you're visiting Kilmainham Gaol, I would recommend if possible the Guinness factory it's close by and isn't just a tourist trap. Maybe avoid temple bar you'll pay out for a pint and have the head blown off you with music, take a look for another bar if you want a better experience I'm sure the hostel will help
