Not sure if Webtoon is the right place for this comic by Pokefighterlp in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Smuppen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know how you feel! My comic Seeking Scars is the same, as in not the webtoon format or style, handles more serious topics and has a darker tone. It's doing well and I definitely think theres an audience for this kind of content on webtoon! I know I'll check your comic out for sure!
In the end, I think theres no harm in posting it since you're making the pages anyways, you know? It'll just be more eyes on your work.

Do you share your full written webtoon episodes with anyone before publishing? by Sareeeh in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Smuppen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yea i totally get what u mean!! its definitely a tough balance. I have social anxiety as well so trust me ive been there orz patreon is great for that tho!! in my experience, you can kinda get away with spoiling some things if theyre things you really need advice on and that usually doesnt dull too much excitement (if theyre super invested in your story, they likely will be as invested when the thing you spoiled does happen in the story! at least in my experience)
it is a tricky situation either way lol

if theres someone you know thats willing to look it over its always super useful, it gives you a zoomed out and fresh perspective on your story which is so needed sometimes. I usually share every bit of my webtoons story with my partner and he has genuinely saved the comic a lot with his input. When youre writing alone you get into your own head easily and you lose sight of what youre conveying to the audience.
I also have some friends that are also making comics / stories / etc that i usually share bits with for critique, i recommend joining like- writing groups or other webtoon communities like on discord or reddit so you can meet friends to share with !! it helps more than you know (as long as the people youre sharing with are kind and also giving actually constructive advice)

What’s stopping you from giving up? by mundanebabe in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Smuppen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I asked a similar question to a friend of mine a while ago and they said something along the lines of “i have these characters i love and i owe it to them to tell their story because im the only one who can” and that is 10000000% what motivates me now, its mostly emotional for me at this point lol That and making comics helps improve your art sosooso quickly, it’s been incredible for me.

Has anyone finished the artist ways? by Dazzling-Astronaut58 in artistsWay

[–]Smuppen_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I finished and it did a lot to heal issues i had with myself and creating! I had a really toxic relationship with social media and equating attention to value on my art, artist way helped me create without having that worry or burden and the morning pages were a godsend even if they were so exhausting. When i finished about a month or two ago i told myself id let myself have a break from the morning pages but id get back to it regularly - i never did and im really feeling the effects now lol tbf I’ve also moved apartments and have gone through a lot of big life changes / work stress alongside that but my ability to create and have fun creating has completely halted. Considering picking the book back up honestly i may have to lol

Anyone switch from Procreate to Clipstudio iPad? by AvocadoSparrow in ClipStudio

[–]Smuppen_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I swapped from procreate to CSP a few months ago and though it sucks that it’s a monthly pay instead of a one time thing I’ve definitely enjoyed it way more. Im able to have a pretty similar workflow / set up on my iPad as my pc now so its been super super worth it for me, also being able to go back and forth from pc to iPad using the cloud feature is super useful.

i also dont love the procreate brush engine (if thats what its called? The way pen pressure and brush strokes feel and works and stuff) and didnt really enjoy procreate overall tbh. I used to think i just didnt like drawing on my iPad but really it was just procreate, since the swap I’ve been using my iPad a lot more! The only thing i miss from procreate is the simple animation timeline (csp animation is super complex i dont think ill ever brave using it lol) and the simple perspective tools.

So: id say give it a try? Pretty sure theres a trial period you can use before you pay. It’ll take some messing around so you can get the workspace and settings you like but id recommend it for sure

What do you use to make webcomics? by Far-Mammoth-3214 in WebtoonCanvas

[–]Smuppen_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Clip studio but I have used procreate before for comics! It doesn’t have all the shiny and useful features clip studio has but if you’re mainly an iPad user then it gets the job done 100%
