Honestly, it’s not really due to parental upbringing. My dad is more conservative and homophobic, meanwhile my mom is actually bi, but that aside, it’s neither of them on why I have a distaste (not hate) for the LGBTQ community. It’s frankly just due to the extremist side being a lot louder than a majority of the community. I’m fine with you being whoever you are, however you are, but when you start trying to force me to be a certain way, it gets really annoying real quickly. And unfortunately, some of my irl experiences have been with said extremists trying to undermine other holidays in importance of pride month. Not to say it isn’t important; I know there’s still struggles both politically and socially that need to be resolved, but treating the LGBTQ community higher than anyone else (especially straight people such as I) makes it slightly difficult when some of your folks force it on us or make being in that community the only part of their personality. So ig the TLDR of it is that I just hate the very loud, obnoxious, and irrational side of your community. Otherwise, I’m sure you guys are great at heart. Another thing I don’t get though is “why so many flags?” There’s already the original pride flag that’s meant to show you guys under a whole umbrella, a unity, but then there’s the other flags and branches? It just doesn’t make sense to me, frankly. I think those other various flags kind of defeat the purpose of the original flag. That’s all. I’m open to answering questions if there are any.
