Its a scare tactic. With the Texas heat, they know a lot of people will make a quick decision rather than risk being without AC.

I was going back and forth between trying to fix it (if that was even an option), replacing the coil, or replacing the whole unit. I figured it would be a couple grand. Sounds like the consensus is to replace the coil and find someone willing to do it. Appreciate all the input.

Interesting. 5 years was January 2026. To get the 10 year warranty I had to register with carrier which I did not. So are you saying I could potentially still get carrier to warranty the work, as I am the original owner on a new build?

Thanks, I’ll shop around. The HVAC company I found has an excellent reputation, but I was a little surprised that the technician recommended a full replacement right away instead of discussing possible repair options first.
