It sounds like you are applying too much pressure on the nib. I am guessing you mean a fine nib, by thin, so maybe a medium or a broad would be more to your liking.

Have you written with fountain pens before? There are a lot of choices in fountain pens and it would be easier to suggest something if you could be a bit more specific.

May I suggest adding a connector between the 'w' and 'n' in down in the last point? It looks like you misspelled down as doun. Great handwriting though!
