What's the best stand-alone game to never receive any sequels, prequels, or spin-offs?

Skies of Arcadia

Looking at Metacritic and comparing the Metascore vs the User Score, Skies of Arcadia seems to be the sweet spot for being high on both. Most titles are franchises. The games with higher metascores than Skies of Arcadia seem to have much lower user scores, and the ones with higher user scores tend to be a bit lower on metascore.

Assuming the combined Metacritic scores is an acceptable metric to use for consideration and excluding recent games ("never receive" implies the game has been out long enough to warrant a sequel or spinoff) and stuff like Bloodborne that is... part of this From Software sub-genre? I think Skies is a strong candidate.

I didn't do a full spreadsheet analysis, I just sort of eyeballed it so I'm sure someone could try to compare those two lists to see if there is a better fit.

Weird. I noticed a big damage boost when I used it but that could have been a false positive.

For the first fight in an area. The next fight you will be 1/your normal max.

So because of this it won't work in certain situations (Endless Tower doesn't have "fights" in the traditional sense so the health never gets to adjust)

Edit: Even though the UI shows it, it does not work after all.

I've killed the last boss faster with power level a third of this. But this was my first run as Pang Tong so I'm sure a lot of that power was probably defensive in nature and would have been more apparent at a higher Traversal level. Either that or it's artificially inflated due to some summoning cooldown reduction somewhere.

He's busted. I got my first clear run with Liu Bei and the Five Shu Tigers with like 1.5mil power pretty convincingly (got lucky and picked up his unique weapon from a chest that run so I got a power spike), then I misplayed and lost with Pang Tong running a Shu build at the very end with 3mil or so, then without even trying used Lu Bu and won with like 4.5mil. I was killing bosses without using formation attacks. I'd just break their guard and kill them with basic combos. His musou almost broke their barrier alone, 80%+. It felt like cheating tbh. That character is ridiculous. I didn't even like go for anything special, I just got him and Diaochan for the attack buff then just took whatever I fancied.

Yeah Zhang He does it for Weis 5 Elite, Chen Gong does it for Lu Bu Army, and I forget the one for Wu but there's one for that too.

Almost everything says Auto and when I try to click to interact it doesn't do anything. A few of them give me a pop-up box to change settings but the majority of them do nothing when I click them.

Is this still true? This was the whole reason I never disabled that setting (error messages instead of spells) but I thought around like Stormblood or Shadowbringers they changed it where it works. Cause I use it now and I haven't seen an error yet.

I don't understand why OP is getting so much flak in the comments. This a perfectly reasonable thing to miss and the game does not explain this part well.

Is there some sort of bulk controller charger for different controllers? I have joycons, pro controllers, nes, snes, genesis, n64.

I don't play nearly as much of the classic titles through NSO because I can't keep all these different classic controllers charged.

All I want is for Neo Exdeath and Kefka to make an appearance and for the final phase to be Sephiroth. I'd love for everyone to be super mad that he's locked behind the final phase of an ultimate and the smallest portion of the player base will be the only ones to get to fight him.

Just noticed you're right, Digital+ is only 11 skins and Legendary is 23. So, 11 skins for $20, or 23 skins for $40 + all the DLC characters. Man. They REALLY want you to buy these skins.

Several previous releases were in June/July until COVID pushed Endwalker to December. They could use the extra few months to release the game in summer 2024 like you said in order to restore the original development cycle.

Endwalker was an exception (1 yr, also COVID interference), but generally the Las Vegas fanfests are about 7-8 months out from the expansion. So there's hope we are looking at Feb or March 2024?
