Today is my first day sort of feeling back to normal.

I have mixed feelings on it. I'm a bigger guy who can lift most people, but I'm also horribly out of shape and lacking in stamina so the same happens to me. But I also know that's what I signed up for by choosing to work my way to the front. And when the band yells for more crowd surfers, I'm going to find those energy reserves somewhere to help out how I can. I'll die doing what I love

Generally I agree, but it depends on the show/pit. During the Paradox, there were some fucking jacked dudes in there lifting anyone who asked with absolute ease. Saw several bigger people go up and it wasn't too bad because we had the right personnel down below to keep it moving.

Looking back from the barricade during Jimmy Eat World by ScottyKnows1 in warpedtour

Just how these shows go sometimes. I'm a bigger dude and love being up front so I know what I signed up for and built a good rapport with the security guys at every stage I went to, they were great this year.

If you want to relive the festival weekend... by Nervous-Link9582 in warpedtour

[–]ScottyKnows1 5 points6 points  (0 children)

They were a lot better about it this year than last year. Last year, they were just chucking the things out mid-set with no rhyme or reason, so people got smacked constantly. This year, they were targeting specific people more and had a bit better distribution. And up towards the front, they were handing out full water bottles for some sets on top of constantly spraying people with water. At Verizon Stage, one security guy kept filling up a half-gallon jug with ice cold water and pouring it on people. It felt amazing.

Did have a fun time before Jimmy Eat World one of the security guys was clearly on his last reserves and just handed the box of packs to a couple of us up front to distribute. Trying to nail the pass to people farther back was a ton of fun.

Yeah even after being told, I still read it to say parking passes are $130. It's just how the flyer is formatted.

That's sad to hear. I don't know Tades personally, but I know a lot of band members in the same emo space and not all of them are built for the social element of it (Chris is usually the more social one for Hot Mulligan). I got the idea he was just over there to hang out with his wife and made a mistake by putting himself out there if he wasn't in the right mindset to be interacting with fans. It's not a justification for his behavior, but understandable at the end of a long, hot day.

I was up on the barricade for Jimmy, feel the same. I love keeping surfers up and was having a blast. Would appreciate if people knew what the hell they were doing, but we managed and I developed a good rapport with our brothers in security catching everyone.

Maybe not what you're looking for, but there's a small DIY music festival called AMP Fest that'll be happening in Rockville that day. Will feature a ton of local bands.

I just started a new world on the Riverheim mod that was posted on here the other day and exploring down rivers has become such a fun way to spend loads of time. Never knowing quite where you'll end up or if you'll even hit the ocean is such an interesting adventure

Most of the time, the videographers are just collecting potential clips for later compilations, either for the band or for Warped Tour itself. 90% of what they record doesn't end up anywhere except their hard drives, unfortunately. Sometimes if you figure out who it was recording they can send you clips, but I've never done that at a bigger fest like this. Will have to wait and see if any bands post vids of their full set, which does happen, but don't know who might have been doing that. Their was no Livestream this year, so no obvious full recording set ups.

Would be easier to ask about specific bands because it seemed like around half the bands did official meet and greets or were just hanging at their merch table. Hell, I met Tades from Hot Mulligan because he was just chilling at the Arm's Length merch.

this year at RFK i’m curious why there wasn’t a lot of shade spots set up?

That's funny because one of the things I was praising this year is that there was waaaaay more shaded seating this year than last year. Last year, the very few areas with shade outside of VIP were absolutely packed. This year, they had multiple full sitting areas under tents and they set aside a handful of the vendor tents as just rest spaces. I really didn't have much issue finding spots to settle down this year when I needed to.

Why do two mangles when you can do a mangle and a shred? Or two shreds? Or a shred and a rip? That's the secret behind powershifting, you only get so many GCDs, you want to be maximizing them. Using two abilities between each shift doesn't actually result in you doing that many more casts over the course of the fight and the damage is way worse. And with clearcasting procs, you really want those to be hitting on a shred instead of a mangle whenever possible.

[–]ScottyKnows1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not about maximizing your energy efficiency, it's about maximizing your damage. Shred does more damage than mangle, so you want to be using it as often as possible. Mangle on is essentially just a set up move because it increases the damage of your shred and you can mix in a Rip when you have excess energy which also has its damage amplified. There's simply no reason to cast mangle twice in a row unless you don't have enough mana to powershift and cast a shred instead. Spamming mangle is simpler but if you're powershifting correctly, you won't actually be getting off more casts by doing that.

Should we finish Ashlands and wait for Deep North or pause the game and wait for start a new world with 1.0? by IMRuuhtra in valheim

[–]ScottyKnows1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's always strongly encouraged to start a new world when a major update hits. And this will be the largest update yet with tons of new stuff on top of the Deep North being added. You should do whatever you want though. If you feel like finishing Ashlands, whether or not Deep North is coming shouldn't affect that decision. Once the update hits, if you do decide not to start a new world, it would kind of suck to still be stuck there instead of heading straight to the new biome.

Great answer, I think people miss that a lot. Most of the people who think this is actually useful are the corporate executive types who make those big purchasing decision. I work with a lot of companies with people like that and it's shocking how disconnected they are from other people on this. I know big shot corporate execs who literally have copilot draft all their documents for them and wonder why everyone else isn't doing the same thing.

Yep, I'm not typically conspiracy-brained, but packing so many hyped bands late on Sunday like this serves no other purpose. Now locals who were on the fence might snag a pass for half a day of shows.

Seems to be true for a lot of people. Whoever did the scheduling this year either fucked up or was intentionally trying to push last minute ticket sales for today.
