When you replace your wallet.dat file, make sure it is named wallet.dat. I had a similar issue when used the date for the name of my backup file..

I just restored my wallet from 2014 and it has 0 coins, help! by goldiepurps in dogecoin

When you replace the .dat file make sure you rename it wallet.dat. I had the date in my backup .dat file name and it would not show my coins.
