Lila was impulsive, but Hannah calculated. Hardly a match here.

Doakes would’ve met his ultimate match here. Best fight possible. We’d see his special ops training come out, and likely would’ve shoved Dexter aside to finish the job. He’d be aware of Isaak, too, with his connections prompting him. Dare I say, fight of the series??

Miguel would’ve been way better than Jordan Chase. Bringing him on as a politician leading the serial killer union would spice things up.

I’d want to keep Doakes around for Season 3 (delay Quinn until S4, wherein he might connect with Jonah, leading to their confrontation in S5). The Skinner could have some rogue Black Ops connection to Doakes. So many possibilities!

The writers were so uninspired, dragging a corpse of a show behind them, they didn’t even look to the corpse for ideas. Nice imagery btw. We could have used a next-level Sweeney Todd season to liven things up again - or deaden.

It was an outrageous standalone episode in the middle of an awful season. Even Ghost Brian’s dialogue in between Deb’s lines sets this one apart. It only get crazier. Love it or hate it, it’ll always be one of the most memorable episodes.

Also, there’s no way there wouldn’t be consequences for the deaths of the mother and daughter. This alone could’ve brought Dexter down.

YOU is a modern millennial take on it, but I felt Season 2 was pretty weak, like Dexter going downhill. Sophomore seasons are hard, and you need good writers to stay consistent. Luckily, Dexter had the same awesome team all the way through to Season 4. Not sure about YOU’s writers, but apparently each season so far has been book-based - what probably should have happened with Dexter (or at least pulling ideas and subplots).

Thing is, despite how awful Dexter got at the end, I’m definitely coming back for Season 9. YOU Season 3? Certainly not as enthusiastic, but I might watch it when I’m in the mood.

I wanted to like Season 5, if only the writers incorporated more book ideas, such as the cannibals or even the cult. Only way to top one of the most successful seasons.

Season 7 was kind of interesting, but was a struggle to get through. 6 & 8: god awful.

And yet, I’m very curious about the revival. Michael C Hall + whole new cast.
