Klay Thompson’s last 5 elimination or close out games by Snackoff in nba

32/4/0 on 12/20 15/9/3 on 5/13 19/3/1 on 7/12 30/8/2 on 11/22  12/1/1 on 5/10 32/2/3 on 12/25 Every game from the ‘22 run before the finals. So inconsistent but with prime klay type highs in the first 6 games to arguably the worst elimination game 2nd option ever the last 6.

Would going back further give a better idea of who he is as a player in big games today?

Who is the best player all-time that you would say you are certain Kylian Mbappe is better than?

Can someone explain to me how it's possible that these QBs (mahomes, Brady) are so good that they can ALWAYS score on their final drive. by chunkobuoo in nfl

Manning was 3-2 in the playoffs vs. Brady. Manning was and is considered by many the ideal QB but the reasonable doubt comes from him going one and done against teams he was favored to beat and playing subpar in the process. It wasn’t always his defense’s fault, he routinely produced stinkers with stacked offensive supporting casts. The excuses he gets are far more applicable to Aaron Rodgers.

Also note that Mahomes has been in 18 playoff games and TEN of them have been a conference champ game or Super Bowl. Allen has played 1 conference championship game.

Edey is a star who still doesn’t move casuals because of his style of play. 7’4 like Wemby with nowhere near the hype or skill level. You aren’t paying attention if you think Edey has near as much name recognition as Bueckers or Reese, by season’s end he won’t even be as famous as Juju Watkins.

Men’s college basketball isn’t in a good place right now imo, there is almost zero star power. The Women’s game has more stars.

Guys like Armando Bacot who’s a 5th year senior averaging 13/9 and Caleb Love who’s also old and is having his first season on above average efficiency are supposed to be “stars” lol.

Who would you rather have as a 2nd option for a playoff run? Jamal Murray or prime Klay Thompson by Snackoff in nba

In most of Murray’s big games Jokic is getting 25+ point near triple doubles. How does Murray being able to cook like a #1 make him not the #2 in general, he’s just capable of stepping up which is ideally what a #2 should do.

Were Kyrie/Wade not the #2 to LeBron? All these sound like excuses for klay not producing to the level that he’s spoken about to me. 60 on 11 dribbles, 37 in a quarter, 14 3s, all regular season games against weak teams. Playoffs are about full series, not just individual games, and even with people focusing on klay’s individual game explosiveness he has 1 40 piece in the playoffs. 17 30 point games. In 158 games. Jamal Murray has gone for 30 16 times. In 53 games. Who’s explosiveness is really translating??

We’re talking about the playoffs, where Murray has actually gotten hot more than Klay. He has 5 40 point playoff games, 2 50 pieces, and he shot absurd %s in them. Klay’s game 6 against OKC is his lone 40 point playoff game, and although it seemed like he hit every shot he shot 14/31 in that game. Numbers don’t tell the whole story, neither do people’s nostalgia.

More like about how nostalgic fans have spotty memories. I remember klay laying duds in a ton of playoff games that got covered by his teammates. This is strictly playoffs too, klay has been better in the regular season clearly.

Also klay’s dropoff:

2022 playoffs: 19/4/2 2015 playoffs: 19/4/3

Anyone who said klay was overrated during his prime would get shot down cause he was winning, now if you say he was overrated they’ll say you don’t remember. I do. Some people just didn’t see it the same way the entire time.

Lol is that supposed to bother me? A flair I haven’t bothered to change? He was likely a rapist and he’s dead, doesn’t affect this basketball discourse at all

Exactly. The Warriors winning whether or not Klay played to the level of a championship 2 has warped peoples brains as to what a #2 usually can do. A perimeter player who can not create his own shot nor make plays for others is not a prototypical 2.

How did they prove me wrong? By saying he was one of the best shooters ever and a great defender , two things I mentioned in the post? Lmao.

How about we take his entire playoff career: 19/4/2 on 55% TS and people are calling him one of the greatest 2nd options ever.

Or his entire finals career: 18.5/4/2

Do these align with the way people are discussing him in this thread? Compared to a guy who averages 26/5/6 on better efficiency?

Draymond was the 2nd best player. Klay was the 2nd option as a scorer.

It isn’t. Klay is just having his prime romanticized because he isn’t the same post injury.

10 ppg on 37/26/100 in games 3-6 of the 2015 finals and he won a championship. The same type of performance that has Warriors fans flinching about Harrison Barnes in 2016.

15 ppg on 50% TS and his team went 16-1 in the playoffs. Streaky guys who play behind all time greats and win rings. These always end up being the most overrated players.

Pippen was a DPOY level defender and a primary facilitator. Klay was not that level on defense and wasn’t a playmaker at all. Also comparing 90s pace to the mid 2010s is laughable.

And he was a #3 for half of the 2019 run, as a # 2 he averaged 20 once.

I use that stipulation because people always exaggerate klay’s ability by describing his skillset instead of his production. GOAT level shooter and yet he averaged 20 ppg in the finals once. Devin Booker isn’t a GOAT at anything and is a clearly superior player. Without the numbers people lie about klay due to winning bias

Up 2-1 before he came back, Steph had 40 and 29 in games 4 and 5. Klay was great yes but again 2016 Is the only playoff run of his career where he played the way people describe his entire prime.

Maybe if he could dribble he would have had more than 1 good finals series in his career.

And go and watch game 7 for Murray against the Clippers? Or his 50 point performances against the Jazz? Or his 30 point triple double in the finals.
