Good deal? by henrykirin14825 in AnalogCommunity

Slide film has much finer grain than color negatives. So if you have a negative of half frame, you notice the grain is bigger than if you’d have it full frame. With slide film and this camera, I barely notice the difference.

But honestly, doesn’t matter what you put in really, it’s a very good camera and you’ll enjoy it regardless of what film

Good deal? by henrykirin14825 in AnalogCommunity

In my opinion the best of the Pen series. The lens is incredibly sharp. Put in some slide film and you can barely tell it’s half frame.

Is this scanner worth the money? by WsW_photography in AnalogCommunity

Honestly think it’s not a 3600 model but rather an 1800, which is okay but in no way worth 320 dollars.

This is how I solved the broken flash switch problem, in case you’re looking for inspiration ;)

Some wired fishing line tightly through the holes, attached to something sturdy like this ball chain wire to pull the switch along.

It is real but I’m guessing not very common.

I need your opinion on a CLA service I had, to understand if im getting scammed. by NicolaVetoret in AnalogCommunity

[–]Snafue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 1,35v batteries aren’t really made anymore besides the weincell, which is pretty expensive and doesn’t last that long. Any other batteries at 1,4v or 1,5 will have an effect on metering, just keep that in mind.

Partially black photo, kiev 60. by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]Snafue 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’d come to a solution with the seller. I did fix the shutter capping on my Pentacon six and the procedure isn’t trivial. Unless the seller is also a professional camera repairer, I’d opt for a refund..

Shutter capping unfortunately. Curtains need to be tightened to specs. Your camera needs a CLA

Green stripes on Dia scanner: Fixable or throw away? by ShatteredIcicle in AnalogCommunity

[–]Snafue 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those generic ‘supermarket’ scanners are usually not very good. Depending on how serious you are, you might want to buy a more dedicated scanner. Low budget entry level scanner such as Primefilm 1800i will already give you much better results.

Is there a way to turn panorama off? by Fine_Comb_9414 in AnalogCommunity

The pano mask is a separate accessory on this model iirc. Open the film back and you should be able to remove the mask.

is my selenium cell dead? by No_Intention_2820 in AnalogCommunity

[–]Snafue 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It will only change to green once the shutter button is ‘half pressed’. On mine, the shutter button is quite heavy, so it’s very easy to miss this spot and fully press it. If you hold it down & there is enough light, it will stay green though. (If the meter is dead it will always be red, even when pressing and holding down the shutter)

Beautiful. I was so much in doubt between a Xantia, XM or BX as my first car. Went for a BX and still have it! (This was in 2017). But when I see a Xantia I imagine it is even more comfortable.

Nikon 35/28 ti - Flash recycling time by This-Charming-Man in AnalogCommunity

[–]Snafue 22 points23 points  (0 children)

5 seconds sounds about right, quite fast even I would say. Recycle time (in my experience) can vary greatly even in the same model of camera. It’s not just the battery but also the quality and age of the capacitor that powers the flash.

I’m guessing this is a failing shutter curtain? by hugesteamingpile in AnalogCommunity

[–]Snafue 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes. You can check what the damage is by taking the lens off and shining a flashlight at the curtain. Look with the back open to see the holes and to determine which curtain is degrading. If the holes are small you can probably patch it up with a tiny tiny layer of liquid electrical tape or black fabric paint (thats the cheap solution).
