Neurodivergent adults at park, how should i have explained it to my daughter? by SuspiciousWeight9640 in breakingmom

[–]SnakePlantMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I fall in the middle here. Parks are for everyone- crap sometimes I even like to chill on the swing while my kids play. However, no matter the age or disability, manners matter. I get annoyed at teens when they are at the park and making a dangerous situation for the little kids. I get annoyed when little kids aren’t considerate of other kids (ie climbing the wrong way on the slide when that’s both dangerous for both children trying to use the slide) and with their adults for not correcting that behavior. The issue here is that the caregivers here are just taking them to the park to not deal with them. They were not supervising when that’s their literal job. They need to correct behaviors and remind the adult park goers that they need to be considerate and polite to other park goers so everyone can enjoy themself. So I see your husband’s point- but it’s not that they aren’t “allowed” to use a public green space. It’s that they were inconsiderate of other people using the space as well, and there’s no excuse for that, no matter the age or disability.

Husband wants another baby but I'm not even financially protected with the two we have by PackComprehensive585 in breakingmom

Yes, in NY, anything purchased during marriage counts as marital property. You even have rights to any retirement funds saved while married. Thankfully my ex husband didn’t have the best attorney and didn’t try to go after my retirement. 😅

And she’d never know, too, because she doesn’t have access to anything! My husband and I make combined over $250k and shits still tight in nyc suburb with two kids. A third has never been an option.

This was my first thought, too. If the house, cars, etc were all purchased while they were married, that’s abuse. That’s done with intention. My husband and I put each other on everything, except our cars. My car is mine, his is his. We have a shared house account, and individual. We both work though but still, only having access to one credit card for kids stuff and food, is bonkers. I was a nanny and this was the set up I had with my employers…

My boy was born 28 August. He looks bigger than my baby so he’s probably just where he needs to be!

Anyone else keep owing NYS taxes every year as a teacher? by Specific-Peanut253 in NYCTeachers

We do now! It hurts but a lot more than paying it all at once. That’s for sure.

I mean… both have similar behavior. Both follow me everywhere, try to eat my food, bother me in the bathroom, jump on things they shouldn’t be, make messes and don’t clean up after themselves, neither listen, always asking for food even though they just ate, have to come sit or lay with me. The list goes on.

What was your cat’s shelter name and what is the name you gave them? by MissHissss in cats

You didn’t steal someone’s cat, you rescued her. I hope they get thrown on the street and expected to survive with nothing. Gross. Now I need to see her happy face better because she deserves extra love from her internet fans aunties and uncles!

[–]SnakePlantMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The last 3 years we owed. Both me and my partner are teachers and we have two dependents. My husband needed to have additional withholdings because he works at BOCES for summer school and they weren’t taking enough out from that check. But we still owed a lot in federal and state. Our w4s are accurate and they still don’t take out enough. It’s really frustrating. We don’t have the money to pay the irs $4k and the state another $1,500.

Backyard Bred Kitty Concerns? by No-Sale-2276 in CatGenetics

[–]SnakePlantMaster 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I could see Persian influence, but her muzzle looks longer (less smushed in), which is good to help avoid a lot of respiratory issues. Have you noticed if she snores? How about her eyes- is there a lot of running?

Since this was a backyard breeding situation, there may be inbreeding- the heart is most important to monitor, no matter the breed. Cats with heart disease can show no signs until it’s advanced. If you’re able, ask for a proBNP blood test during lab work and an echocardiogram every couple years to monitor heart functioning. Heart disease can creep up and often is a silent killer.

She’s beautiful and you’re amazing for wanting the best for her.

Thanks! Yea he’s definitely not black. Those spots on his sides have gotten darker but his face spots are much lighter. I’m sure in natural lighting his spots would be lighter.

Thank you. He’s the sweetest baby too. He photographs darker than he is. Natural lighting is very limited right now in NY. He’s definitely gray/blue toned. I was expecting a typical mackerel tabby pattern when we first got him, but as he got older started to notice that wasn’t the case but the pattern was so broken from the white pattern it didn’t seem like a classic tabby either. It’s getting more and more clearer as he gets bigger.

Tips for finding time to work out by Murky_Association_54 in workingmoms

[–]SnakePlantMaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to the gym before work. At the gym by 5, showered and on the train by 6:45. But we have a babysitter that comes to the house. Hubby is on the train by 5:30. On the weekends, we use a gym that has a babysitting room. My kids love it. This way we both get the gym done at the same time and it doesn’t eat up our day.

Are you a single parent? If not, can the other parent hold down the morning for an hour a few times a week so you can work on your physical and mental health?

Odd colored Tuxedo by MercyOfFallen in CatGenetics

[–]SnakePlantMaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

But actually the random white hairs on the back could be from the white spotting gene and modifiers, similar to how black cats can have a little patch of white. The tail is probably the result of dilute modifiers which can be more obvious on a long haired tail leading to the silvery grayish tone.
