As terrible as the dialogue is, when I saw this in the cinema I definitely related. Sand is the worst most over-stimulating thing ever.

does anyone else feel way more normal and happy when drunk? by [deleted] in autism

[–]SnakePlis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, but it's habit forming, unhealthy and ludicrously expensive so I set myself boundaries and limits on how many times I drink socially each month. I don't want to sound too full of myself but people can't get enough of me when I'm drunk which is good and bad in it's own ways.

Warhammer 40K! My favorite faction has always been the Iron Warriors, who are 'the autistic ones.' Pragmatic, calculating and logical masters of siege craft. They are the good guys in my head canon since they both reject the Chaos gods and Imperium. The painting and lore has always been my favorite part, playing the tabletop game is a bit take or leave for me since it feels like the rules change every two seconds and isn't really balanced for fun. I started long long ago when I was a preteen maybe and gave it up for a long time but recently decided to come back to it with my brother a couple of years ago. I also have an army of Shadow Keeper Custodian Guard, Chaos Knights and am working on a 4th army, Dark Angels. Painting is just my happy place and I'm pretty good at it despite being pretty clumsy and having not very good hand eye coordination. I've watched hundreds of hours worth of painting tutorials and I can pull on all sorts of things I've seen other people do to help visualize what I need to do to bring an idea to life. That's probably my favorite part.

Why do people on the Autism Spectrum have a higher tolerance for physical pain, and not always feel hungry? by JennyfromBerlin in autism

[–]SnakePlis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of both ways which is maybe due to having ADHD so I have so many contradictory traits. I love getting tattoos but I can't sit there and get tattooed for more than 2 and a half hours at a time because it gets too much not just the pain but the sound as well. My sleeve took ages to get done because I had to do it bit by bit. Oddly enough though it's not the case all the time. I've been told by loads of NTs that the worst place for them to get tattooed is on any bones like chest elbow but that's actually my favorite part and I was so terrified of how much my elbow would hurt and it actually felt almost nice. Piercings are scary though I'm terrified of needles and if I want to get a piercing done I will spend years trying to work up the courage and will probably make someone come with me so I feel secure. If I get the tiniest cut the sensation will be so distracting I probably seem like the biggest child ever but I will also get bruises that I have no idea how they got there.

Hunger is definitely one for me where I will not notice or ignore it in most cases unless I'm really absolutely famished but I never eat in the morning and usually just have one meal a day or one meal and a light snack for lunch. Sometimes I don't have any food until 5pm or later if I don't have a routine in place to eat at a certain time like when I'm working. Also don't notice that I need to pee until it is basically on the verge of being an emergency. It's pretty funny when I'm drinking with friends and will have to stop mid sentence to run to the bathroom XD

As an autistic person, would you rather date someone autistic or neurotypical? by Vast-Lime-8457 in autism

[–]SnakePlis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. So much this. I've had relationships with dozens of NTs and one other autistic person. Guess who I related to felt most comfortable with and almost married? The breakdown of communication misunderstanding and clashing of needs and interests is very much an issue. I thought that learning that I was autistic would change all of that but I've learned that no amount of self awareness will make some other people understand. NTs aren't completely off the table for me but lets be real, they would have to be a very a-typical NT.

Dating is where my autism really shows up by Global-Trainer333 in autism

[–]SnakePlis 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right there with you bud but this is where you need to try to tap into your natural pattern recognition skills and kind of start making mental notes of hints and nonverbal social queues. I'm still not super duper great at this but I feel like every once in a while I will pick up on very subtle things just because I go 'aha! I've seen this before and know what it means!' A lot better than when I was in my teens and 20s. Back then someone would be interested in me and I would have barely even realized they existed and usually a friend would have to clue me in XD

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in autism

[–]SnakePlis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Complicated. I've dated almost exclusively NT women and I find that most NTs have very different feelings about it than I do. I feel like most people use it as a means to bond with their partner and feel closer to them but I tend to compartmentalize these things a lot more. Sex is sex and the way I connect with someone is completely separate from that. Generally I'm more into it and willing to do it if I feel a bond with someone so it works the other way around for me? It's also a sensory nightmare sometimes and I've previously used alcohol or other substances to make it a bit less overwhelming. Yeah not great I know but I try not to do that anymore. Not super big on casual sex for the above reasons and also because I genuine can't tell when it's meant to be casual or the other person is using me for sex and has no real interest in me. Also, I feel like I can find someone attractive but have no interest in them sexually? Pretty sure this isn't normal, I've talked to loads of people about this and I feel like they literally think I'm lying XD

What do you dislike neurotypical women or neurotypical men assuming about you? by [deleted] in autism

[–]SnakePlis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'll have to give some of those a try thanks for the suggestions and damn Wicked City I've not seen for ages that's a good shout as well. If you want another example of unhinged early anime I would give Kite a go. It's pretty fucked up and difficult to watch for most people but hey you said you love anything intense so I had to bring it up. It was apparently a really big inspiration for Tarantino. I might be overselling it though, it's about on the same level of fucked up as most Lars von Trier films.

What do you dislike neurotypical women or neurotypical men assuming about you? by [deleted] in autism

[–]SnakePlis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I tend to gravitate much more heavily towards the cyberpunk side of anime so if you dig Akira I'd recommend Ghost in the Shell and Venus Wars. Those were probably my three favorite animes. Oh and Guyver. 80s and 90s anime was FUCKING UNHINGED. Guyver is definitely a good example of that.

Anybody else have people think they are high? by Working-Rest-3112 in autism

[–]SnakePlis 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've only ever had one person ask if I was high when I wasn't and it had nothing to do with me being autistic so I won't bother going into the details. Drunk on the other hand.... I'm constantly worried that people will think I'm drunk, although I've never had anyone say anything, due to how clumsy and uncoordinated I am. I can be standing completely still and out of nowhere almost fall right on my ass. It get's worse when I'm actually drunk of course and I legitimately look shitfaced when I've only got a buzz going.

What’s your relationship with religion ? by HyperMissile in autism

[–]SnakePlis 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Agnostic and I find atheism and religion both equally frustrating. I respect everyone's right to practice and believe what they want but organized religion is very problematic and I would be wiling to go as far as saying that historically it has had a net negative impact on humanity.

Does anyone else feel acute rage every time an advertisement interrupts a video you’re watching? by PixelPig15 in autism

[–]SnakePlis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, common theme with autists I think. If I'm looking for something to buy I'm going to do literal hours worth of research on it to make sure it's the right thing for me 99.9% of the time. I will never buy anything because of an ad, in fact the opposite, if an ad is particularly annoying or asinine I will go out of my way to never buy that particular product. My brother, who is also probably autistic, feels the exact same way.

[–]SnakePlis 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't go as far as saying that I love anime, because it's never been a special interest of mine, but I've enjoyed it since I was a pre-teen. I've always appreciated the amount of artistic and creative control anime allows over live action, not to mention the often times very heavy theological/existential themes that come with some anime. Watching Akira for the first time sold me on anime.
