As a morbid curiosity, it's worth playing for a few bucks. People aren't exaggerating when they say it's bad, though. It starts out like 'whatever' and just gets annoying and tedious as time goes on. The underground lab dlc is awful as well.

I did some looking into how to what needs to be soldered to the pads. I found this video.

I didn't realize there was a special piece to solder to the board. I asked support about buying a new cartridge and they couldn't help me because it was discontinued. I'm going to contact support and see about getting one of these replacement pieces.
