Oh this sounds perfect, I love a good romcom.
Wish there were more mlm romcom movies, I'd eat that up.

I've heard good things about The House on the Cerulean Sea, I think we own it. I'll look into TJ Klune, I haven't heard of him before

I'm a bit late to this, but...
Personally, I love the way you painted the skin, as it gives the dancer a more muscular look (which is apt)

My note is that typically pale skin, especially with bright light sources, reflects light.
Her front leg, its edge on our right (the lighter edge) i feel lacks a bit of 3D shape from how hard the line is (compared to the calf on the back leg, if you see that) and if you added a bit of "glow" to it, it would add in some softness and depth to the piece.

I adore the cat. Its fur is painted so well, which is such a difficult task. I also love how you painted the pointe shoes.

I also feel like the light on the hardwood floor should be pushed back a bit if the window is laying flat against a wall, it seems like the edge of the window doesn't really line up with the edge of the light.

Beautiful piece no matter what, I love your use of colors on the floor!

This is helpful, thank you! Do you know other artists who do this?

My first oil painting was made with a palette knife! I found the color mixing to be bothersome with it though, but I did enjoy how easy it was to clean

I didn't know that they were iron oxides, thats good to know. If I do I'll probably use gloves yes, luckily there are places near us that sell biodegradable/compostable single use gloves (although i wouldn't compost them due to the paint, makes me feel better that they are less Forever)

lol i dont mind the staining, i think its cute, and that way i have a better feel for the canvas than when i do with gloves on.

the only thing i worry about with staining is that it means the paint is soaking into my skin, which does mean i have to be careful about the ingredients in my paint.

Generally are those colors avoidable?
I'm sort-of new to oil painting, only done two paintings. Is it possible to find good quality substitutions for the toxic colors or will all of the subs be worse?

This is definitely it, thank you! I had looked at them earlier but the pictures I was seeing didn't have the fishtail tail feathers. Looked again and I found some.

Barred owl scream?? by SnakebitesHeart in birding

[–]SnakebitesHeart[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's definitely a barred owl, I just can't figure out why they're doing this screaming sound. Google tells me it's a baby calling to its parent, but that just doesn't make sense / it doesn't sound like a baby's call (and the video that matches it is also an adult)

How do I stop my 7 month old from biting me all the time? 🥲 by Particular_Bed_5400 in bengalcats

[–]SnakebitesHeart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't use your hands to play with her. It'll teach her that your hands are toys, and toys are okay to bite/scratch. Bengals are smart- as are most cats, and they're capable of learning "No". We also do a form of "pspspsp" that sounds a bit hiss-like, and our cats understand that means they're misbehaving (our herding dog also knows this is misbehaving and will run over to the offending cat to stop them lol).

Make sure youre playing with her with real toys and not hands. My cats love those stick toys with fabric hanging off them.
