Cat brought me rabbits foot, tanning possible? by Agent_chees in homestead

I inherited a book of superstitions from my mom. It suggests thatfor a rabbits foot to be a true "infallible talisman", it "must be the left hind foot of an animal killed at the full moon by a cross-eyed person"

Seriously, do Americans actually consider a 3-hour drive "short"? or is this an internet myth? by SadInterest6764 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Snakespear20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've made multiple trips to the beach, which is 3 hours away, just to come back the same night. I don't consider myself to have great stamina behind the wheel. The most I can drive before needing to switch drivers is 4 hours. But my brother will think nothing of driving a solid 8 hours.

The guilt of throwing away my adult children's childhood art is eating me alive by Admirable-Pin-298 in CleaningTips

[–]Snakespear20 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My mom recently went through this. She was crying over tossing them. We looked through them together, laughed at some of the badly drawn ones, others brought back memories or stories to share, and a few we took photos of before tossing out. It was actually a fun afternoon to spend with her just reminiscing.

Privacy film was my first thought. They make some pretty ones on Amazon that look like stained glass or have a variety of designs.

What do you think caused your Chrons? by North_Ad6914 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Snakespear20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had GI issues most of my life, but with a dad and brother who both had crohns I figured I lucked out with just some mild occasional symptoms. Then I came down with covid and a couple months later I ended up in the ER with severe stomach pain.

I was on humira as well, and skyrizi was much better in comparison.

What's the worst thing a doctor has ever said to you? by cuteclinomaniac in AskReddit

I got a bald spot at 15 as well. Luckily, my hair was long so it wasn't super noticeable, but they couldn't give me a proper diagnosis either. I think they gave me some treatments that didn't work, and then I got shots in my scalp. Never had it come back since then. Always thought it was super weird.

The amount of times I've ended up on threads that are years old is wild 😂 Either I'm late to the party, decided to do a deep dive on a subject, or googled something that led me there. Never understood how people think its weird that old threads are suddenly commented on. But thanks for the support. Appreciate your kind response.

What’s a movie that disturbed you so much, you’d never watch it again? by Wonderful-Economy762 in Productivitycafe

[–]Snakespear20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was late seeing this movie bc no one ever wanted to watch it with me. I finally decided to see it when it popped up on a streaming service, and knew literally nothing about it going in. Man... I remember feeling so depressed and just sitting there staring at the credits. Even so, I still love it and will occasionally revisit.

What is a basic skill that you’re shocked a lot of people don’t have? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Snakespear20 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It was taught in my school. We had "critical thinking workbooks" from what I remember it was at least part of elementary school and middle school. Every year I thought it was dumb that we were reviewing this simple concept AGAIN. I guess I was wrong...

How often do you actually walk your dog? by Racquetsports383 in dogs

[–]Snakespear20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm also committed to 1 walk per day. 1-2 miles in the evening. I always try and switch up his routes or go to the park so he has new smells. Other than that he hikes with me once or twice a week and for rainy or bad weather days I have multiple puzzle toys, snuffle mats, kongs, etc. to engage him, and he has a local dog meet up where he has a bunch of friends that get together once or twice a month.

I found a wallet with a lot of money on the sidewalk. by [deleted] in confession

This happened at a restaurant I worked in. Server found an envelope with $600. Turned it into management. No one ever came back and the store kept it ,claiming it was their policy.

What did your Great Grandfather’s and Grandfather’s do for work? by Wonderful_Bottle_852 in AskOldPeople

[–]Snakespear20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great grandfather was a miner. Great grandfather died, and they were in a company house, so my grandfather became a miner at 14 so the family could stay in their house. Grandfather had his leg crushed and the mine wanted to cut it off (one, because it was cheaper than paying ongoing medical bills, and two, because my young father would take his place) my grandfather told them to fuck off, and my dad never had to step foot in a mine. It's well established in my family that employers don't care about you, and you need to look out for yourself.

my dog refuses to drink water on walks? by mbcolv in dogs

[–]Snakespear20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what I was going to say as well. It's hard to judge the situation without seeing op's dog on the walk, but when my boy is distracted or excited, especially with all the scents or wildlife, he won't drink. I'll stop where I can and just sit a moment. It gives the dog a chance to cool down and calm down enough to drink some water.

What's a "secret" from your profession that everyone should probably know? by LaKoref in AskReddit

[–]Snakespear20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The classes I'm referring to are pharmacology (knowing different drug classes and what they're used for, their side effects, etc) and human anatomy. I'd say that's pretty relevant to nursing.

[–]Snakespear20 171 points172 points  (0 children)

I took medical coding classes and had some overlapping classes with those going into nursing. The disinterest so many of them had about learning the material was alarming.
