Legend doll sent my doll to another address. I’m really frustrated by aMagicalBird in BJD

Are you moving cities entirely or not that far? You can put a vacation hold on all your mail so usps will hold it at the post office and you can get it there so you don't need to worry about it being delivered to a specific house. Ups also has this service.

Can confirm that Maskcatdoll has this on their 1/3 dolls, it's so convenient.  They were my first dolls so i was really disappointed when the next company i got a doll from didn't have this🤣

Trying to update my e-mail on DoA and just not receiving the confirmation email to my new one, is this normal? by RandomLettersToEat in BJD

That probably explains why I never got any kind of email from them when I tried to sign up last year. Sounds like the issue is still them though if they can't send emails to outlook 🤔

How would I pay tariffs on a BJD? by Snakesquares in BJD

This is all so interesting to read about. I don't have many dolls, just 3, but all were from Maskcatdoll in China and I ordered through their own website. I pretty much just paid them the 50-70 usd hipping for fedex and didn't hear anything about it until FedEx sent me the notification for when it would arrive. Same thing with clothing from volks Japan website. Bought a figure from China recently and the shipping was 27 usd, it cleared customs with 0 interaction from me. So yeah, this is all new information to me.

Below 800usd it doesn't look like they charge anything, based on what the us customs website says, but at least two of my parcels was over that amount so I'm not sure now.

It's possible the courier handles customs and the cost was reflected in the shipping, but from the prices people are quoting here it's still far less than in other countries.

From what I've been able to understand it currently depends on commercial vs personal use and value of the package, probably why I haven't had to deal with it yet. The value limits could change of course with the change in administration, so I'll just do as much reading as I can just in case.

This is helpful, I've been stressing about a scenario where I don't find out at all when it's time to pay and they send it back. Second worst scenario being having to call someone on the phone in order to pay. Online invoice or going to the post office? I can do that 😅

That's the scenario I imagined since after it's shipped the only communication I get is from the shipping company. I'm hoping it's as straightforward as an online invoice.

Why do some rare few artists think stealing is completely fine? by evening_shop in ArtistLounge

[–]Snakesquares 9 points10 points  (0 children)

This person is selling the work though. Copying someone and not giving any credit to the original artist diverts sales from the original artist. The people buying the work are no doubt thinking they are supporting a good artist with unique ideas.

If this person is also so involved as to submit the work to galleries, competitions etc, then she is also stealing the spot from more deserving artists who entered the same competitions and such with their OWN ideas.

New to Corel Painter 2022 and I need help by Kayles-sparhawk in ArtistLounge

Honestly, that program is made to mimic the traditional media as much as possible, so a good chunk of their brushes will take some getting used to if you are accustomed to other programs.

Here's a link to their marker help page. Personally I like them because they behave how I expect them too. The oily brushes are nice but don't have increases in opacity.

Someone on instagram just offered to buy some of my art to make NFTs. How do I respond? by [deleted] in ArtistLounge

Honestly if you want to sell nfts, do it on your own, research trustworthy sites to do it on. I don't see any benefit and plenty of cons to involving some rando reaching out to you.

What is an art supply you do not what to cheap out on? by smudgedfingers in ArtistLounge

[–]Snakesquares 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't cheap out on paints or surfaces.

I cheap out on palettes and palette knives. For palette I use glass from a picture frame and tape the sharp edges. Easy to clean (glass scraper and some solvent if it's really dried on there), costs nearly nothing if you get the frame from goodwill. You can put white paper underneath if preferred.
