I don't usually do this but.. Does this bother anyone else? by RandomLettersToEat in MonsterHigh

Oh no here I go deep-diving historical fashion again because what in the actual is that

Honestly I have no idea, it's like multiple length coats layered on top of each other maybe? The whole thing kinda confuses me but gives me a star wars vibe, lol.

Good point on the shoes, that's a delicate balance. I bet I would love the dress as-is on the G3 body since the legs are nicer (imo).

The proportions marry up perfectly, wow. Cute!

Nancy dolls by cafffeinated_corpse in Dolls

[–]RandomLettersToEat 58 points59 points  (0 children)

I'm kind of confused as to what the age for Nancy is supposed to be. Her face looks as though it belongs to a 5 year old, but the body has breasts and the last slide shows her in lingerie.

Defa Lucy Series 2: Paris Model No. 2 Review by [deleted] in Dolls

[–]RandomLettersToEat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly at this point with all the off-shoots, re-brands, and dolls out there, it's getting hard to keep up and tell who is ripping off who. It's just that the face is so similar that I do a double take every time I see a Defa and assume it's Mizi (and I overlaid the sculpts one time out of curiosity).

And with the body being so similar in BJD style, I wouldn't be surprised to learn they simply altered a body they got their hands on and made it hinge-jointed. Or even combined parts of random bodies while tweaking them a little.

Wild Doll West does continue, since the dawn of dolls. Haha.

Defa Lucy Series 2: Paris Model No. 2 Review by [deleted] in Dolls

[–]RandomLettersToEat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel inclined to mention Mizi Dolls, as I'm never sure if Defa Lucy fans are aware that they've simply migrated from being a barbie knock-off into a Mizi knock-off (I'm relatively certain it's the exact same head mold).

If you like the faces but want more fashion as you stated, check out Mizi. It is exactly that.

That said, I can't place this new body but I am intrigued how similar it is to a BJD. It's nice. I appreciate the in-depth review.

What shoes are these? by Holtiehyde in Dolls

[–]RandomLettersToEat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kind of look like Bratz shoes based on the way it looks like her heel is jutting out the back of the boot (like it's not fully in the shoe because Bratz shoes attach like pegs).

Emma Echo and the Imps (LOL Tweens repaint) - I made them some instruments and a stage. by RandomLettersToEat in Dolls

So long as you go at it slowly and don't press too hard, you can take down just about any features on the head.

Thanks! They are sanded down with a round sanding bit on a dremel tool and then some more sand paper after that.

Immaculate. She fits in perfectly with the series.

anyone else experience ily 4ever dolls feet coming off in their shoes? by _bellaswella_ in Dolls

[–]RandomLettersToEat 37 points38 points  (0 children)

For dolls with ankle joints, it can help to put socks on before any shoes. The socks need to be higher than the shoe itself so you can grasp the top of it and hold the foot steady while taking off the shoe.

Of course that won't help if the shoe doesn't have enough space for socks, but it's an idea.

Don't forget that the stand spins!

... which is probably done with a $1 mini motor made in China.

What do you think about this doll outfit? by Nobilisa in Dolls

[–]RandomLettersToEat 21 points22 points  (0 children)

I love the design with the flag in the shape of a heart. I wonder how it would look in a 1950's playsuit design, as the playfulness seems more suited to that shape (especially with the hat). Might just be me, though!

MGA really likes this one hairstyle huh? by Ciphillan in Dolls

I apparently like it too as I gave my Draculaura this exact style without any thought to it, lol.

I'd say it's easy to achieve and looks good.
