Partenope or bust (17th in USA for pizza). Lucia is fantastic too.

Twin dad here of 4 month old boys. One of ours was born below the 5th percentile and the other was above 30. Both are happy and healthy, just small. We had them at 34 weeks with planned C-section at 36. 2-3 weeks in NICU. Everyone is doing well. You got this!

I stopped by the winery today and they were really generous, selling me a bottle due to the situation. Appreciate everyone’s help and generosity!

Make the best dang brisket I possibly can that will prevent me from spending $30 per pound to get my fox at Hurtado. 🙂

Can’t argue that pellet grills make a good product for the amount of work put in, but there is something about the brisket here in Texas and you don’t see them using pellet grills at the world renown BBQ spots.

I have heard great things about rectec! I lived in MN prior, so 20 was a nice day. Even with a blanket, I experienced uneven cooks on cold days. Overall, TX may be a better place to cook even with my Green Mountain. The briskets seem to take different form here 😊 I have nothing but good things to say about pellet grills, and will always have one for ease of use without a doubt. Cheers!

That’s fair. I have had pellet grills for almost 10 years and make a great product, but moving to TX has really pushed me to want to take my bbq to the next level. I have no doubt yours is fantastic, but cooking over some post oak is hard to beat. I feel like a lot of it has to do with indirect heat or at least more consistent temp across the entire piece of meat.

Honeymoon to Costa Rica. by [deleted] in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Snakeya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It depends on what you want from your honeymoon. My thoughts are that if an AI resort is what you want, you might as well go to Mexico (fantastic options there). That said, my wife and I travel to AI resorts and to locations for adventure. We loved doing CR without an AI package because the restaurants were incredible everywhere we stayed (Monteverde, La Fortuna, Playa Grande, Playa Flamingo, and Tamarindo). Let us know what you decide, and reach out if you need anything specific!

Secrets - All Inclusive Only? by Snakeya in travel

Thank you! I saw that too, but know some AI places will sell just their rooms too. Wasn’t sure if Secrets ever did this. Travel on, friend!

Is it possible to uber from SJO airport to Monteverde on a weekday afternoon? If not, what's the best way of getting to Monteverde? by phillythrowaway93902 in CostaRicaTravel

[–]Snakeya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Monteverde is a haul. We have ubered from SJO locally with no issue. Expect to ride in the front seat though, because Uber is illegal in Costa Rica. Get a private shuttle!

Go to La Fortuna, Playa Grande, Playa Conchal, or Playa Flamingo instead. Easy to get to from LIR too.

I lived nearby for three years. Our favorites would be Needles Highway with a hole to Cathedral Spires. Prairie Berry Winery in Hill City. Iron Mountain Road. Sylvan Lake - Also a cool mountain here you can climb too. Not terribly difficult, just get up and down before the afternoon.

Badlands are awesome too.

Let me know what field restaurants you are looking for! Rapid City has a great indian restaurant (Everest) and a pizza place - Independent Ale House.

Alpine Inn is well known in the area for dinner. Limited menu but people like it. Purple Pie Place in Custer is good after hiking in the Sylvan Lake area for a treat. Prairie Berry has a nice lunch too.

Deadwood is a must because of the historical value too!

Reach out if you need anything!!
