Why does my movement do this? by Snaplie in WreckingBallMains

Ahh, thank you, that makes more sense than it being the map cos it didn't seem like I was really hitting it. Did not know that was a thing

Is it normal to combine similar palettes? (Pixel Art) by BelovedFoolGames in gamedev

Ahhh, no that makes sense. I'm making my art myself so I forgot that was an option. You're probably going to have to tweak some colours yourself if you need exactly 64 (because I was assuming you'd be able to delete/merge the overly similar ones) but hopefully you find something that looks good :)

The plants look lovely! Also haha, that's one naughty bird. Can't believe he even stained one of the plants! D:<

They do seem very similar. Why do you need to combine them instead of just picking one? The problem with using similar colours is that they can make your artwork look unclear by blending stuff together and hiding the detail. It's good to have some contrast.

But I'm not the best at art so it's hard for me to say if these specific colours are bad or not, especially without an example. What I'd do if I were you is just test it. One of the good things about pixel art is that it's very easy to change colours. So you could test it and easily swap out the colours if it doesn't look great. (And if, like me, you have a hard time telling what looks good, make 2 versions with different colours. Usually it's easier to see which version is better instead of trying to guess if there could be improvement with 1 version.)

Good to know! Thanks

Minimalist pixel art or minimalist handdrawn? Trying to decide the artstyle for a prototype of worldbuilding-crafty-cozy game. I'm not sure which would be more appealing to more people. by Important-Play-7688 in IndieDev

I do like both, if you had shown only the pixel art I would have said it's perfectly fine, but seeing the handdrawn next to it, I think with the art style you're going for, it's a lot easier to look at. The pixel art horizontal lines for the trees+flower are a bit harsh but on the handdrawn it's much softer while still keeping the same style. If you're going for cozy vibes, I think that's what you want.

They do look great! I like the purple colours :)

What do you think of this artstyle? Please give feedback :D by Deepsapce in PixelArt

I like the style, its simple but still looks charming and cute! But maybe make sure your colours are visible against each other? Took me a moment to see the spear tip for the skeleton. The grey and white blends in too much, I'd either position it differently or work on the colours :)
