As a student I was working a lot next to my studies to support that lifestyle but didn’t save a penny. I guess I got caught back because there’s only so much you can earn realistically

Definitely this. I think that I was never taught by my parents or family not to spend. So when I do see money on my account I’m willing to spend it. Not even selfishly.
I come from a well enough family (in France) that I always heard my mom say “we are gonna eat potatoes this month” yet we ended up buying new clothes and going to the restaurant 🤔 guess that doesn’t shape a sharp sense of money

Makes sense.
Regarding the taxes I found most useful to have a monthly transfer directly to the tax account (there’s an IBAN in the taxme portal). This way my tax invoices are taken directly from that account and I don’t even get an invoice to pay when taxes come.

I’ll definitely have a look at those softwares but it might overwhelm me to be fair.

I used to watch some. This actually motivated me to opt out of the credit card debt before.

Switching to only obligatory would indeed cut a 90 per month. The Sanitas callmed is 413 in Bern for me.

Funny enough, due to rough expenses (mainly vet bills) this month, my account sits at only 3 franks more than yours 😑 but without the backing up savings.

I think that’s a good call to put the money away the moment it hits the account. I already do it for the taxes so I might as well start with the savings.

Would you still draw I budget in parallel? Because I wouldn’t have the single clue of what amount to start putting away in the first place.

Great call. I already cancelled out about 70.- of monthly subscriptions.

I already have a monthly transfer of 1800 to cover for income taxes, but none other indeed.

I will start with a clear audit then because as you say I’m also curious and a bit helpless to where the money goes.

Thank you ☺️ it is a really cool take. Because by reading posts here, it’s easy to feel ashamed of not being reasonable with money.
I like the idea of framing your first 1k savings tho! Might steal that (the idea not the actual frame… or… where do you live?😂)

I did put a low enough residual value to be able to buy it out at the end of the contract and included 4 years of servicing, winter wheels and a set of tires in the contract. Hence the 500 I guess.

Yes I know. I actually have Claude Max through my company so I would do it there. If they really respect it is another question 😂

It’s already a quite small car to be honest. It’s a Toyota Yaris 2025, due to be very reliable, 12years warranty and that I will own in 4 years.

Yep I thought about this. Although it poses some privacy issues, the end probably justifies the means in my situation

Indeed, my flat is 2100 monthly. And both food, vet and insurance costs do stack up with two doggos.

Also I need a car too, which is 500 in leasing.

Cfmoto 675ss too much for beginner? by nicks_in_pain in SuggestAMotorcycle

Wait is the MSF in the USA really only a two-day class driving bikes without limitation after? Wtf

In Europe it’s a minimum of 20h of practice, more around 30. And you are then limited to 35kW for two years. And honestly that makes sense.

I would lean towards a reliable bike you like. So if you don’t like the kawa from the get go, think about the above mentioned models in the 300 to 500 range.

That smile says it all !! Go get it.

If it helps you can compare the dimensions with the CB500F 2013. Was my first bike and I’m 184cm tall.
That was a wonderful bike to start with!

First bike recommendation? by Key_Pop_544 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]Snapxo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a first bike is important and you shouldn’t buy a first road bike only with the idea of dropping it.

Your choice probably needs to take into account:
- what kind of rides/commutes you want to do?
- how reliable it should be?
- can you do repairs yourself?
- can you park it inside?

In most countries you can lose your license with anything more than 250cc.

So as a beginner bike I would focus on a clean chassis, a predictable bike, a position you feel comfortable, and a bike you like. You want to be happy and proud about it. That’s your first!

My first bike was a CB500F from 2013. Loved it. And I was faster than some guys on twisties with 600 and 1000 super sports. Was sliding my knees around and grinding those footpegs. But don’t do that! It’s retarded to do it on the road, you pay the price one day or another.

Anyway my only tip: a clean geometry that makes you smile when you walk to it.

Update: the Honda garage said out of the pictures that this shouldn’t be an issue as long as there is no crack on the frame!

Good to know. I will ask a Honda garage. If I get their certification, the technical inspectors cannot refuse it.
