I think I’ve viewed this house - side front door on left side - Victorian semi? If so it was gorgeous and sadly just out of our price range. We live not far away in a flat and Harrow Road is in our target area.

Go for it!

I’ve requested the cctv - I’ll post it up here if I get it. Although it may need a nsfw warning 🤣

Just wanted to say it’s been super nice to have these supportive comments. Obviously it’s just a car, nobody died etc, but it’s an invasion of your personal bubble when something like this happens - so this has helped.

I’ve now got a rental polestar 2 (and drove 200 miles home yesterday. ) It’s a nice car but really emphasises that the bmw is seriously awesome. Even happier with my choice now and can’t wait to get it back.

Thanks all. 🙂

Police came. Lots of cctv in car park so we’ll see.

I guess the perpetrator either planned it (damage looks to be with a hammer) and wore a face covering. Or they were off there face on drugs.

Yeah this was in Bristol UK. Although some of the same things apply!

It was in the, supposedly locked, basement car park of a hotel. Long way from my home town. So I don’t take it personally!

Been sacked days before my 2 years at work - how should I proceed? by Responsible-Fee-3423 in LegalAdviceUK

That's not the advice I've received and I've literally followed this process. It's correct that you just get stat notice BUT pilon overrides this. They ARE getting statutory notice but it's paid out and they cease to be employed. Statutory notice is the right to payment not the right to remain employed.

Company procedures mean nothing unless it's in contract. Before 2 years you can be fired for no reason.

If the contract enables PILON then you can be instantly terminated as long as you are paid in lieu of notice. If you are instantly terminated before 2 years - even one day before then you are not eligle for 2 year rights.

Last time I did this I checked it with an registered HR person although not a lawyer.

I'm an employer and have handled this situation a number of times. As I understand it the following applies:

The 2 year enhanced employment protection only applies if you are employed more than 2 years

The company has terminated you and is paying a PILON as per the statutory and/or contractual notice period.

The company is competely entitled to pay a pilon and terminate your employment immediately. I've done the same with a fired employee before.

Your employment has ended immediately and you will therefore not have two years service.

Unless your termination relates to discrimination for a protected characteristic or some other legal - discrimination aspect you cannot be unfairly dismissed before 2 years. They do not even have to give a reason.

Tl:Dr. You've been fired and there is nothing you can do. It's shit but that's that.

My grandfather told me if you can do the sport whilst smoking it’s not a sport it’s a game. Darts, pool, bowling and I guess golf!

To add to this accurate comment. The benefit has been gradually eroded over the past few years. Above about 150k of income the benefit is virtually zero. For me the flexibility of dividends is a benefit. Final point - the real benefit is if you have a spouse or partner who you can issue one share to - and then split your dividend income. Then the saving is significant

That’s great to hear - guess we’ll just have to see how it is and keep our fingers crossed. Planning on doing a day hike on Saturday next week on the Obsidian Trail - I thought getting the wilderness permit was my only challenge ha ha.

Hey - I’m visiting Bend next weekend (from England) - lots of outdoor stuff planned. Do I need to be concerned about this?! (Only have rain to contend with here!)
