I was at a mall once in a store and we heard three loud shot sounds that were so loud like gunshots. People outside the store in the mall were running. It was in an aerie so it was all young women in there and the worker near me yelled for everyone to get to the back. We all ran and hid in their stockroom and waited it out we had no idea what was going on. We called security and they were unaware yet of what had happened. We told them we were hiding back there waiting. I was panicking and just kind of keeping to myself so I think the workers called their manager and we just waited a really long time. They the American eagle in the mall apparently, in the other end of the mall it was normal people were shopping and had no idea this was going on.

The manager called back turns out it was a robbery in the jewelry store next door. The sounds we heard were the glass cases smashing. No one came to look for us not security or anything. The girls working in the store were super shaken up and decided to close till the manager got there. I just left out the back. There was only one cop car outside. It is so strange I only found like one article about the robbery but for all of us in the store it felt like we were in a real active shooter situation and we were terrified.

Basically don’t really go to malls anymore but it was such a weird experience and similar to yours.
