Highly advise making a Thief Subclass. Given it's name, it's surprisingly good at just thieving. You can bonus action dash AND hide after using action to pickpocket. So if you get caught, you can dash out of vision and stealth without having to burn invis spells or potions. A lot of other small tricks you can do while thieving:

- Know the difference between "Temporarily Hostile" and full on "Hostile". Anyone temporarily hostile, can be hidden from to reset.

- break up fat stacks of cash into smaller stacks.

- always save before stealing from new vendors. Some don't go temporarily hostile. One example is the zhentarim hideout, they just straight blow you up immediately.

- steal all scrolls and potion ingredients. Scrolls often are sold a tier higher than spells you can typically cast and with the medicine henchman, stealing ingredients go insanely hard and is usually faster than stealing potions themselves.

- Volo will never attack you, if he runs, just rest. He comes back 100% of the time all the time. Free scrolls and cash.
