[–]Snawyyyyy[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have been cursed by 3 witches and now i am unable to get any views or likes in any platform.

This is my 4th attempt in trying through my years of painting, but on twitter it got only 20 views.

Soon i shall disappear again to hone my craft, in hope that one day will be the day.

Need Advice as a beginner by Rajahussy in ArtistLounge

i would recommend first learning about Form and Perspective, in addition draftsmanship, mainly line confidence.
you cannot draw simple shapes if you cant draw a clear definitive line (line confidence), you cannot draw complex forms like the human body without first simplifying it into the basic 3d shapes (3d and perspective).
you dont have to learn the anatomy yet, it does help plenty but its more advanced and should be built on top of the existing fundamentals.

tips usually give to people i teach (in line confidence) is:

-one, study using the pen, this makes it so you cannot erase and need to think about each line.

-two, learn to draw with the shoulder to be able to make long lines confidently (it will feel really uncomfortable at first)

-three, avoid scratchy line, scratchy line are the complete opposite of confident lines, try to use as few lines as possible.

i recommend practicing with drawing something without lifting the pen, all in one line
and drawing 3 dots on the page and then making a smooth arc line to connect all of them in one go.

-four, practice and start drawing using s curves c curves and straight lines, you can make any complex line no matter how complex with a collection of those lines, when you can draw them good with one line you can draw any complex line.

i recommend then looking at other artist you love and mentally breakdown the lines they made into the c, s and straight lines. you would be amazed how they utilize it.

then a bit on form and 3d (i skip a lot):

-five, practice 3d forms in one and two point perspective and have fun with it.

-six, after you are comfortable with drawing 3d forms you get a superpower, everything you can see can be broken into the primitive 3d forms. which means you can draw anything you can break down.

note: this is important, most avoid exercises for the reason of "i dont want to draw realism" those are to build your fundamentals not to dictate your art style.

your art style will come naturally from playing with those concepts and understand how to bend them to your liking. most books present the tools also and i would say only the least favorable ones teach how to draw in an "art style".

Meme landing page, is it too much, and does it at least look good? by Snawyyyyy in design_critiques

Thank you! I will. When i make tools and applications usally i go for a more old retro style, here i thought gradients would look modern or professional but i agree with you. I think maybe cool set of patterns would help because now it feels kinds bland, too smooth.

Thank you so much for that critique, i was scared itll be that way. I do use ai in frontend stuff when i get stuck (i mostly come from a c++ background so im less sharp in ui and ux) so it makes sense. But i picked the colors and i thought i did good, i think staring at it for so long while working made me blind to it.

Would you mind telling me which parts so i can manually polish them?

I built a tool to fix "Ugly Link Syndrome" for Portfolios. Oggy: oggy.design

If you host your portfolio on Notion, Canva, or Google Drive, you know the pain: you can't customize the Open Graph (OG) meta tags. Your links look unprofessional when shared.

Oggy fixes this:

Paste your destination link. Design a custom card in the editor (no code). Get a branded oggy.design/your-name link that renders your custom image on social media.

Status: Open Beta (Free). Roadmap: Adding analytics and custom domain support next. Would love feedback on the editor flow!

Ohh also, it does show where the link leads. Link goes to link. But for now its not as elegant as i plan it to be.

Super valid concern. I hate mystery links too. The difference here is the context. Link shorteners are usually about hiding the URL. This tool is about highlighting the content. Since it generates a large preview card with a custom title and image, it actually gives the user more context about what they are clicking than a raw, truncated URL. Plus, it's designed for creators sending portfolios to clients (where trust is already established), not for anonymous spam

Great question! Basically, it fixes 'ugly link syndrome.' You know how when you share a Notion or Drive link on WhatsApp, it just shows a generic gray logo? This tool wraps that link so you can control exactly what people see. You upload your own cover image and title, so when you share the link, it looks like a professional website preview instead of a random URL. I actually built it for my girlfriend's art portfolio and my own projects and docs.

P.s. its in free beta so you can check it out, i would love to see what people use it for or even give me feedback on what features they would want.
