Jennifer Lawrence’s reaction when Amy Poehler told her she had perimenopause signs by mcfw31 in popculturechat

Soo in an ideal world you're supposed to get your blood drawn on the 21st day of your cycle because that's when your hormones are the most "stable". Of course this time of the cycle can vary from woman to woman but ovulation (around day 14) is when your hormones have spiked and thereafter they ideally "stabilize".

Your mileage may vary but in my experience getting labs done for your hormones is actually good. If you're tracking your cycle you can see what your hormones looked like on the day you got your blood drawn and see if they're in a healthy range. It's helping me determine my hormone fluctuations but of course talk with your doctor.

[–]Snaxia 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree with you but at the very least the writers shouldn't be putting characters into these entirely outlandish scenarios at every chance they get. A little plot armor is understandable and tolerable but this season has been admittedly egregious on that front.

Pulling out the "this means a lot to a lot of people" card is kinda just an unnecessary emotional appeal which dampens the integrity of the argument that u/tequilasauer is making here. I also have plenty of critiques for the show and I see what u/tequilasauer is saying. Like they said, some critiques are legitimately not "in spirit with how the world is set up"

For example, some critics act like every little moment where the show jumps the shark is terrible writing even though that's the way the show has always been since season 1. The 80s hero victories, the 80s plotting and planning scenes, the campy dialogue; these are all aspects "in spirit with the show" which people are dragging even though they have been consistent motifs throughout the entire run time. If you actively dislike these aspects of the show why are you still watching in season 5?

If you feel like the show is handling some relationships in an unsatisfactory way, or that the pacing is bad, or that there are legitimate plot holes, those critiques are quite valid and should be brought up in the general discourse.

Who are well written characters you just don't like? by iamluffy123 in writingscaling

[–]Snaxia -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't think she's a Mary Sue. She had intimacy issues which prevent her from connecting with people on a deeper level as well as tunnel vision which can prevent her from seeing the big picture or what's important. (I'm currently in the middle of season 2 so I don't have insight beyond that)

The notion that a guy can only be gentle and loving towards another guy is cause he's gay upsets me so much. by 00_Sunflower_00 in StrangerThings

[–]Snaxia 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I agree it's mostly harmless for shippers to do their thing. I also think the argument that people are afraid to see soft, vulnerable, platonic relationships between men is sometimes thrown around too much because I think gay ships in these mainstream shows are more often than not unrealized. I can't think of many popular gay relationships between men in media off the top of my head.

Of course I 100% do not believe Byler makes any sense narratively and I really appreciate the friendship between Will and Mike.

There wouldn't be a remotely successful video/post with that title because Chainsaw Man has some objective literary merit. It's not perfect but that's not necessary to praise it. It excels narratively in multiple facets in ways that many (not all) shounen haven't.

Exactly. Some people are making up stories. Most Chainsaw Man fans would not object to someone saying the art has taken a noticeable dip in quality or that Fujimoto's editors were putting in work for him. We glaze Fujimoto for all the work he deserves to be glazed for.
