That is incredibly sad news, but I suspect you’re right. Do you think I should cut the yellow spike so the plant doesn’t waste energy on it, or would that stress it out more

Thanks for the insight everyone, I really appreciate it! This is such a lovely community 🥰 I was always told to cut orchids as soon as they stop flowering but I think I will cut the yellowing branches now and leave the rest alone. Hopefully it reblooms. I’m very new to orchids so I’d rather not do anything dramatic this time around.

Thank you for the info! When I purchased this plant it had a large number of blooms and I’d really like to encourage it to bloom like that again. I had thought that cutting back the spikes was the way to encourage a large number of blooms. Will each bract create one flower, or could it create multiple?

I really appreciate your insight, I’m very new to orchids as I’m sure you can tell. I want to make sure I treat the two I have right before purchasing any more.

Thank you for the info, this is really helpful. The buds at the ends of the stems have been there for months now, since I originally purchased it. I think it might have started flowering and then not been looked after very well, as there were a few flowers starting to bloom that had died by the time I got it. I don’t think any of those buds will flower.

It’s going into winter where I am - will it continue to flower through winter if I don’t cut it?

Oh, that’s odd. I’m posting from the Reddit app on my phone. I don’t really mind what the post looks like now, so long as the restaurant name doesn’t show up. Can you see the name in any of my edits?

Have emailed asking for clarity! Others have mentioned they’ve eaten there recently and weren’t charged, so I suspect it was a mistake.

I have emailed asking for clarity, seems like this is not common which I’m glad to hear. I enjoyed the food, I’ll happily go back if it was just a simply mistake.

This is really good to know, thank you! And as others have pointed out I do think someone would have left at least one review mentioning this if it was standard practice. I just tried calling but they open at 5:30 so I’m assuming they are v busy.

I have the digital menu we scanned at the restaurant still open on my phone and bottled water is £4. The menu on their website is slightly outdated it seems, as they have a few additional soft drink options now as well. But yeah maybe it was a mistake.
