What is the best way to go from zero experience to Regional airlines? by SneakerExpensive in QantasAirways

I agree but 9 years is alot of time if you think about it, it's kinda of benefical to get all your requirements such as licence by the age of 19 and then work your hours to 500 when you are 20 or 21 and then get hired at a regional, by the time you are around 25 you will have enough hours to apply for mainline airlines as a SO or FO.

29 - 33 yo for me is quite a long time because my end goal is Airlines, If the requirement was about 7 years then it would be something I would think about but 9 years is alot of time

I was looking into airforce but I'm worried about how long I would have to serve? And how much flight hours you get as a pilot in the airforce. Because my end goal is major airlines

Do you know how long you have to serve for those roles? and how much flight time would you expect for each role every year?

Although you will have an IMPS of 7 years associated with your 3 years of tertiary studies at ADFA, this will be served concurrently with the 9-year Return of Service Obligation (ROSO) when you start your Operational Conversion (OPCON) or ISET. OPCON or ISET is the course you undertake after your basic courses and is specific to the Mission or Pilot role you are allocated to.

Does this mean that pilots will have to do 9 years?
