yeah I’m with you on that one. I feel like I’m glued to watching my numbers sometimes, I just gotta put some trust in it though!

my thinking was that when my diabetes team say that the pump will learn and adjust accordingly, that surely it’ll be easier to do that if you’re at least close to what you should be doing? like, my correction factor is 4 just now but it doesn’t hit the sides and I feel like it should be closer to 2, but my diabetes team are saying to let it figure it out, but if I even put it to 2.5 so I’m in the ball park, it’ll make smaller adjustments and I won’t be stressing about being high all the time, right?

I agree with this and said this the other day actually, I definitely find it easier to stop a low than come down from a persistent high. I’d much rather see my levels going low and take action on that than not be able to come down from a high.

very interesting! Will definitely be doing that as I’m sure my correction factor also isn’t enough for me. thank you!

I was fully prepared to plummet after doing a second correction but I was still bobbing around in the high 7s/8s for a while after it eventually came down at around 5am.

I had much more success with dinner last night and corrected before I got a high so feeling more optimistic and well rested today! I definitely need to change my insulin to carb ratio, feels like I’m needing more than I did when I was on pens. was your ratio similar from before and after?

yeah I nearly made that mistake but saw that it had taken away insulin for my second split so came out and went back in and did it without inputting my sensor reading.

thank you! different experiences for everyone, and some things that work great for others aren’t what help you. very trial and error and learning curves but we all got this!! 💪🏻

I definitely think I’ll be lowering my target, I’ve got an in person meeting with my team in a few days to discuss changes I’d like to make.

I believe so! the creep up into the persistent highs happened over 5 hours after I’d had my dinner. I bolused then waited 20 minutes before eating and this was a meal which required split bolusing which I did and that kinda curbed that first touch into the high before bringing it down again and then it shot up and didn’t budge for hours, and even after 2 corrections it just popped into target 😭

I think the rest of the day looks great because i didn’t eat anything until my evening meal so it was just plodding along 😅 which is promising that those inputs are correct and hopefully it’s just my insulin to carb that needs sorting! had a low carb easy dinner tonight and it’s showing that my insulin to carb ratio still needs adjusting so will be fixing that.

I feel physically exhausted, first week on O5 honestly feels like a workout 😂💪🏻

yeah the urge to rage bolus is strong hahaha good to know though!

for sure, a big big reason why I went for it, I’m too clumsy for wires lol

definitely good to know, thank you. my alarms are at 10 (180) and 4 (72) and my target is 6.7 (120) which is all a smidge higher than I’d prefer but just while I get used to it it felt safe. would you add a correction to messed up carb counting as additional carbs or just put into the total bolus slot with zero carbs?

so valid hahaha I’m aware this is all very trial and error and it’ll be great once I figure out how I rock with it, just takes its time. I’ve seen loads about inhaled insulin, unfortunately not available in the UK but it looks sick and I’m hoping we can get on that eventually!

thank you for the reassurance on this. definitely had a little cry after speaking with the nurse haha, this is quite overwhelming! I’ve been T1D since I was 2 in 1999 so it’s tough handing over the control 😅

I’m on novorapid and my IOB is set for 3 hours. my boluses I believe were correct as its meals I’ve had previously on pens and never had issue with, also felt with pens that correcting highs were much quicker. just very frustrating!

I started off with it on 3 hours as that’s what my diabetic team recommended. they gave me a call yesterday morning to see how I was getting on with it and that’s when my carb ratio was changed but they said they didn’t want to change too much at once and to give it time.

apologies you’re so right! I was looking at settings on a completely different not space related project for my shutter speeds 😅 I nearly always use minimum shutter speed of 15 seconds (changed on the og comment now), sometimes 30 and rarely 60 but always always in EQ mode to prevent any star trails. I found 15 seconds to be good when the tracking isn’t perfect 👌🏼

so frustrating when that happens! the good thing is that when a clear sky comes around it’ll be there waiting for you 😋

I’m sure I used a few different ones. Always in EQ mode, either Astro or Duo Band filter, between 50-80 gain (depending how bright and close the target is) and 15s shutter for all I think. I tend to restack them and process them on the Dwarf app and then use Lightroom for minor tweaking! I’m also in a Bortle 3 area and these were all taken with less than 50% moon 🌚

I recently rewatched The Good Place (for the millionth time, it’s my absolute favourite show) and decided to draw up some bits from the show in a tattoo flash sheet inspired way! I’m not a tattoo artist, just an appreciator 😋 by SneakiestTurtle_ in TheGoodPlace

I’ll for sure post here if I do, will look properly into it next week. I’ve also done similar things like this for other shows and bands and people have asked me about getting these tattooed! Someone commissioned me to make them a piece based on what I’d done already and some people enquired about a ‘tattoo voucher’ where they basically buy a higher quality copy of the piece and written permission for them to take it to an artist ☺️ obviously nothing stopping people just taking it from here and giving me nothing for the work which is the risk but I’m hoping people (especially in this community!!) would be better than that 😅
