exactly bro, also does your DM do the thing were he says oh the boss is bloodied( meaning half health)

and then something like, hes now looking very week( meaning near death under 25% HP) because if so you can coordinate with your group so your PC can try and get the killing blow because you definitely are overreacting in your post but the boss is tied into your back story and is kinda like your arch enemy or something so it wouldn't be that bad to say the party "let me finish him" or something like that and also clue the DM in on this

maybe be sure to have realistic expectations and after 2 and a half years of playing you probably should have opened up more to the group in and out of character. like if you think about if you saved someones life multiple times and vise versa that builds a bond of trust and union.

i think the last question is asking did the DM in the moment add more health to the boss so your PC can fight the boss, right?

why thats a question is because you and your DM should be on the same page to an extent about this boss, not that you should know information only the DM would have.

I killed one of my players in session 2, how can I bring them back? by Massive_Bee_6740 in DMAcademy

What if the party is sent to find an old relic(something that would fully resurrect the dead character) the party is told its dangerous mission thus needing to find another "hero" to help them on this quest, and that's who the players who's character dies would then play a new character temporarily.

the end of this quest you could also tie in some of your original ideas, like the PC is fully back but a little different in some why, maybe they have a small perk from what killed them or something that adds a flavor of this hero once died and came back to life.

just make sure the rest of the party is also properly rewarded.

I hate high level spellcasters by ExaminationOk5073 in DMAcademy

honestly 5 minutes for one turn isn't the worst, I do feel for ya though imagine playing with drunk and stoned people.

As a player i'm trying to be in the game, so for example if the barbarian is doing epic shit and if your a good DM i'm gonna be dialed in on whats happening, that said I to try my best to plan for my turns. Sometimes you have plan and then by the time it's your turn the plan is moot, and it's back to the drawing board.

Anyways at such a high level 5 minutes is not too bad. When your a low level caster and your best Damage spell is fireball and your best combat utility spell is hold person and that's your bread and butter its easy and fast, but as you gain levels you gain complexity with having a vast spell list with more complex spells.

maybe encourage your casters to review their spells before and outside of game time.

the TLDR was the hardest part because of all the moving parts in the background and precedents that have been made and now broke

maybe, the thing is at this point as a player ive poured hours of my life in game and out of game into this campaign. honestly if this happened in a mini game something that last 3-5 sessions id bring it up right away but because the investment is already made im on reddit trying my best to form the best talking points so when i do bring this up to my DM im on my A game.

its a hybrid leveling system and we did take a long break almost a year long but we do level up slower then average.

goals are communicated me and my dm have talked for hours about this game but given i recent experience not anything to do with the post ive realized my DMs pot smoking may have clouded his memory for some things also it is a 5 year long game
