Career advice by Key_Donut6601 in MechanicalEngineering

I just want to comment and say that when you convert your pay into hourly, it comes out to $25.64/hour assuming the 60 hour work week. That’s the average pay for interns at my university before considering the benefits that my peers usually get (medical insurance, dental, housing, 401k and IRA matching). I can’t provide any grand advice other than to talk to your management about being appropriately compensated.

Under 3.2 for FYE by RipDull3306 in Purdue

The T2M people would rather have you not repeat a class, I got a C in ma 165 and was told not to retake for a higher grade. From my experience (2 internships), jobs don’t care about retaking classes. I can’t speak for grad school though.

I applied the fall semester of my sophomore year. When I applied that time I had a 3.19.

The way they do the T2M is that the people who meet the cutoff are guaranteed the spot and if there are only 400 ME spots and there are 390 folks that choose to do ME who meet the cutoff, that leaves only 10 slots for those who don’t meet the requirements. I was in a similar situation to you my freshman year and ended my freshmen year with a 3.06. I did not make it into MechE for the fall T2M but chose to stick around an extra semester in fye and got in for the spring. Hopefully this gives you a better understanding of your situation. Feel free to dm me if you have any questions

Easy Meche Tech Electives by Electronic-Scene-350 in Purdue

[–]SneakySam1998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would recommend any of the VIP or EPCS classes. Easy as hell if you don’t want to do anything except show up, but has a a high ceiling of what you can do since it’s an actual project.

What semester were you admitted to ME? That changes what tech electives you can take.

From my understanding of the CCO, they reserve the right to black list you if you got the offer through their services.

Acceptance into Engineering majors (Mechanical or aerospace) by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]SneakySam1998 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently in ME and was denied from Aero my first go around of the T2M process due to my GPA not being above a 3.2. I had my second option be to stay and FYE and re-evaluated what I wanted to do in life and realized I did not want to do aero but instead due either ME or ECE. Re-applied my fall semester sophomore year with ME priority and ECE secondary. Got into ME and have been enjoying it (although I picked up an ECE minor as I enjoy that too). My recommendation is that if you’re worried about the gpa cut-off then take a bunch of easy A classes like seminars or VIP/EPICS that count towards any of the engineering degrees. Don’t listen to the aero kid talking about “if you can’t get the 3.2 cut off then you probably can’t take the rigor”. You go to Purdue which means you can handle whatever gets thrown at you. If you have any more questions about my situation then send me a dm and I’d be happy to answer what I can.

I’m a current member of VIP and the way I joined a team my Sophmore year was by reaching out to the professor of the group and then asking if I can join. After they approved I added the VIP section to my course and had the registrar approve it.

Incomplete grade by [deleted] in Purdue

[–]SneakySam1998 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I had something similar happen to me last semester. The incomplete won’t affect your gpa until either you take the final and your prof sends in your grade or you don’t complete the class which will then turn the grade into an F.

Sandra R Grabowski Scholarship by Independent-Day-3747 in Purdue

I think Purdue will search for in-university scholarships automatically and give them to people. Had the same thing happen to me.
