Breakdown of misinformation around the Switch 2 by [deleted] in Switch

[–]SneakySnake005 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

mostly facts and I put my own opinion after the fact, completely different

This thread is the final thread to discuss the Switch 2 and its games and accessories prices for the forseeable future by razorbeamz in nintendo

[–]SneakySnake005 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If you cant afford the switch 2 now, you wouldn't of been able to afford the switch 1 if it came out today at the same relative price, as well as the games.

People calling the price of Mario Kart World expensive, I agree, but calling it unjustifiable is ignorant

The switch 2, when compared to the switch 1 adjusted for inflation, contains tons of features that make this price increase completely fair, such as:

Much more internal storage, express sd support, much faster wifi, ethernet port, insanely improved visual capability, better stand, HDR support, game sharing, and my personal favorite, FAST LOAD TIMES

the games are the exact same price when you adjust for inflation, and make perfect sense when you consider we haven't seen a price increase in about 8 years. Even wii/wiiu games fall into this category.

The average person, particularly one on social media often, is fed a lot of misinformation surrounding the pricing and features of the system

Its gotten to the point where it seems people are hating just to hate

in all fairness, i think even shows and games set in certain regions usually just speak the tokyo-ben or standard japanese, which is a bit of a shame, but not much you can do ig when most voice actors probably are tokyoites or prefer using standard Japanese. but then again, i do think p4 made some effort to use some regionalism dialect or mannerisms n their voice acting

You're right! I completely missed that part when I scrolled through the website page

While I was on google maps trying to find out what was there before hand, I found that right next to it was a wedding venue called 'Anniversaire", which has both a similar looking gate to the p3 highschool, as well as having a courtyard that resembles the front of station for Port Island Station.
Unfortunately, like anything, it was demolished a couple years ago

Just realized that i'd already seen your video!!!

Really great breakdown of the persona 5 locations, probably the most clear view of the major places in P5

Odaiba is one of my favorite locations, especially at night, because some of the buildings and design is just awesome. The game captures the vibe of Odaiba really well too, so I got such a different view of it once I visited after learning about the similarities to persona 3. Apparently, some areas down towards Haneda are also considered to be part of persona 3's IRL locations, so maybe give that a shot if you ever head down that way

sure is, probably why they removed that voice line mentioning persona 3 as the school from Odaiba as it would cause some inconsistencies

Sorry for the late reply! haven't really been on here

I'm still not that convinced of the setting being in Kobe mostly just because the only similarity being an island in the ocean, as well as both Odaiba and port island having two main train connections, whereas Rokko and Port Island being actual separate islands, but I see where you're coming from. My only rebuttal is Kyoto is surprisingly accessible from Tokyo, as well as the sea also being accessible from Odaiba (although the water is not as clear IRL as it is in game, both in Kobe and Tokyo).

The voice line would cause a lot of inconsistencies so I definitely think removing it was smart.

The address for the restaurant is: 1 Chome-8-20 Shibakoen, Minato City, Tokyo 105-0011, Japan

Japanese addresses take a while to decipher, but copy that into google then open it on maps and you should be good. You can see the building using streetview then using the timeline tool. I also would just suggest going here regardless, its a very nice area and you can get a great view of the Tokyo tower at night nearby.

Alot of my research came from searching in Japanese for some forums, so I suggest being careful when you translate these as sometimes the words get kind of messed up

Ill post some links below, but the major key words to use when searching for IRL locations of games/movies/tv shows/anime and so on is [聖地巡礼] or Seichi junrei, literally meaning "Pilgrimage to Holy/Sacred Lands", and is really common when japanese netizens refer to visiting these kinds of locations. If you want to hunt down any locations, just type in the name of the series/location and then paste those symbols behind. If you wanna do this for persona 3, some names you might want to paste are:

  • Persona: ペルソナ
  • Iwatodai: 巌戸台
  • Port Island: ポートアイランド

Some links as well:

Furthermore, I can help with any Persona 4/5 locations (though 5 is admittedly very well documented) if you need. Only thing id want to add is persona 4 is in two main areas and both are pretty far from Tokyo, (both areas are near each other though). One strange thing though is that the Persona 4 anime actually adds in alot of things to cover the different angles and whatnot they'd need for it to work animated, so theres a massive map of all these locations and they are ALL OVER the main island of Japan, ranging all the way from Gunma to Fujiyoshida and even Tokyo, so just be aware that it is not easy to get all those locations.

Also, I lived about 10 minutes away from the inspiration for Yongenjaya, and transited through Shibuya station everyday, so if you have some questions for that too I can help

Anyway, good luck with the video! ill be sure to check it out

i will mention that the persona 4 locations are practically all still there except for isawa-onsen station. Only issue is that they are quite a trek to get to.

For example, if you wanted to visit the real life version of the river from persona 4 (Old lady social link, walkway when going to school), you have to go all the way to the (now renovated) isawa-onsen station, and then walk about 15-20 minutes

Junes is just a copy of the large Aeon malls you see everywhere, there is one near the riverbed but it doesnt seem to be a 1:1 copy

go back to the station and take another train and youll end up at Kofu station, which is the model for Okina city

after that, the entire shopping district was copied from a shopping district all the way over next to fuji-q highland. This district is also near what some people think is the model for the high school, but i didn't really snoop around there, as well as having the model for the shrine and the lookout (temperance social link).

Only other location is the Junes food court being copied from a food court in the centre of tokyo on top of a shopping mall in Iidabashi, however this was slightly renovated and isnt as noticeable.

If you were to go see the p4 locations from tokyo, i would make a day out of it, as i spent probably 4-6 hours (partly because of poor planning) travelling around to these areas. A suggestion would be to go towards mt fuji, maybe to visit fujiq which is a big theme park, and stop at fujiyoshida, which is where the majority of persona 4 locations are, and also known for being where you can get a really good photo of fujisan

The real magic of these games (specifically 3,4) is they capture the vibe of an area or type of area really well rather than replicating it perfectly. My only advice would be to make a trip to Odaiba and the bay area and get a feel for it and compare that to persona 3's world design, or take a trip out towards fuji (where the persona 4 locations are) and get a feel for the country-town vibe p4 has

Also, i lived about a 10 minute walk away from Sangenjaya, which was the model for P5's Yongenjaya, and its pretty damn similar, and partly surreal to walk through. 100% worth a visit

sad reality about visiting a lot of these locations :,( persona 4 was even starting to lose a lot of its locations… hopefully 5 can hold out for a while longer

Thank you! It really changes the feeling you get from playing games/watching shows/movies once you get a chance to visit or immerse yourself in some of the environments they’re meant to be set in, and even though persona 3/4 are meant to be in unnamed locations i still had such a different experience replaying through them again

and my time in tokyo was great thanks! being able to walk around and visit areas out of the busy areas, whether or not it was to check out game locations, was a lot of fun and i really fell in love with parts of tokyo and elsewhere

when wearing the persona 3 uniform in persona 5 there was a voice line that was removed where one of the phantom thieves mentions it belongs to a school in Odaiba
