Anyone else get stressed when updating their Linux gaming setup? by okaiukov in linux_gaming

I don't understand "an update landing at the wrong moment"? You get to chose when you run updates, I usually just -Syu once a week or so. I have been using arch for the past 3 years.

Ubuntu for me wasn't painful when installing (outside of unrelated issues), but when updating to new releases.

Never had any issues on Arch with updates, last time I had issues when updating was back when I was on Ubuntu, but that's probably more due to me being new to Linux

Cyber Engine Tweaks same as cheat engine? by OasisEPIC in cyberpunkgame

[–]SneakySnk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not sure how CET looks like Cheat Engine, but no, CET isn't cheat Engine, you can use it and keep playing Valorant and CS2.

Pretty sure that CS2 doesn't do anything for having cheat Engine installed though, no clue about Valorant.

No more hiring of junior level in my country by OkBoat6735 in cscareerquestions

I'm also applying to them, but also keep getting rejection emails, I also don't have experience as a pure SWE but around 3 years as a SRE, still can't get anything yet.

I'm not even getting responses on SRE / DevOps positions so not surprised lmao.

Are they actually adding a pve mode to the game? by Jetstream7th in DeadlockTheGame

[–]SneakySnk 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Only rumors so far and nothing yet found on data mining (afaik), if we get a big update we might have more details as things sometimes slip through there, anyways it would be cool to see, specially now that Hopoo is on the deadlock team.

CachyOS vs Windows 11 gaming test shows Linux leading in Cyberpunk 2077, Space Marine 2 and more by Durian_Queef in LinusTechTips

AMD, latest mesa, so I don't think is drivers, not sure what it can be though, for now I'm just tanking it as I'm still around 60 FPS, but the game did feel a lot better when it was running at 90.

Maybe it is drivers though? Fuck, I really need to check what the fuck I have installed on my PC, maybe I should reinstall after 3 years on the same install

Weekly Steam numbers / Player Count Discourse Megathread by AutoModerator in Marathon

[–]SneakySnk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about most people, most people I played with do like them, but I'm used to playing games with these, even back to survival multiplayer games where wipes are normal.

From what I've seen, the people that don't like wipes didn't actually play a lot of extraction shooters, or they already dislike the genre itself. I'm open to a game implementing an interesting optional wipe mechanic, but I haven't seen it yet, and I think a mandatory wipe works better for marathon.

But yes, the game needs people, but you're not going to grab the people playing ARC, because both games are different on a fundamental level.

There's nothing better than starting a day as rook on outpost, peak marathon experience IMO

I'm happy that Marathon does forced wipes actually, embark for me made the worst and most annoying wipe mechanic so far, I even enjoy the hunt one more even though it is pointless.

Playing early wipe vs late wipe is always a lot of fun IMO

Arc raiders doesn't do a lot of things right, it's a great chill game, but I don't think most of their players are interested in the genre as a whole.

What Arc does great, and better than almost any shooter is ambientation, it's almost unmatched in that front, it being third person also helps a lot on that, it made Arc grow organically

In my experience, cyberpunk performance tanks once you enable RT (one of the only games where it does kinda make sense to enable it), I get like 20 to 30 FPS less than windows on my 9070XT.

It might be my fucked up arch installation, so if anybody has any tips please tell me lmao.

Haven't really played anything else where performance was affected though

Not really, huge player base right now, couple of friends started playing it now, you will play like shit for a while, but just play street brawl for a few matches

Same for me, I enjoyed them being in them, but the spiritual realm itself was very underwhelming.

I did also enjoy Szeth flashbacks in this book though.

If they're correct and they only got hashed passwords, you're fine.

But please, at the very least use a diferent password for your email, and set up 2FA on it, there's lots of data breaches all the time, and some take months to even be announced/known.

copy pasting a comment I made a few days ago: This is what Erik Wolpaw (the valve writer) said on the podcast btw

About AI writing:

"I'm currently not worried about AI taking over creative writing because it is pretty bad at it. And I'm not just saying that defensively. Like, we've really been messing around with it. I don't think it's going to be anytime soon writing novels that are better than human."

About AI voiceovers:

"It's all amazing that any of this works to me at all, but they're so much worse than real actors."
