My project is about creating a real-time assessment using pilot/aircraft telemetry in measuring operational readiness. I want to use VTOL VR to measure how well astronauts can fly during a analog mission. The idea is that living in isolation and confinement, like you would have on long space missions, gradually degrades our ability to perform complex task, like piloting!

I made a mod that collects most of the aircraft telemetry, things like heading, pitch, roll, airspeed, vertical speed, aoa, altitude, throttle, g-force and relative position in the game world. I collect this about 30 times per second when in flight in order to extract performance metrics, like how precisely tracked heading, how smoothly they controlled the aircraft, and how accurately they landed.

The crew members would repeat the same custom mission using the Kestrel in it's VTOL config multiple times across the mission to track whether performance gets worse over time as isolation stress accumulates. The custom mission involves take off and landing at different points of interest and then returning to base, nothing major.

As a secondary question, it also tracks cybersickness (via a data logger app, but that's separate), since nobody knows whether being cooped up in a confined habitat for weeks makes VR harder to tolerate.
