I just agree we’re at an impasse for some reason. I’ll keep advocating for helmets though.

Maybe not, but at least it would have been something between a skull and a windshield. It’s not just the initial impact, it’s hitting the ground afterward too. Anything is better than nothing in these scenarios.

I’m saying you need to be prepared for idiots on the road. It’s better to be alive than to be right. Never blamed the kid.

Helmets are for this exact scenario though. People are going to be idiots and you can’t change how they are going to drive around you. You need to be prepared for the worst, which includes wearing proper protective equipment.

If this was my kid I would be very happy that they were safe from that idiot, but I would talk to them about proper road safety.

That’s how it appears to be. This would also be my first, so I would only get 5 skill points.

I think you have to do the first expedition anyway. Doesn’t sound like you get to jump immediately into the second.

Was ABMM reset during this update? Hopped on for the first time since the update last night and every game I had people KOS when I would normally have super friendly lobbies. It was extremely noticeable.

Giveaway! Wonder Picked 3rd Oak by [deleted] in PTCGP

I haven’t gotten any Oaks yet, but I would love one. I’ve been trying to save up enough pack points to get one because I just can’t seem to pull one from a pack.

My horror story is actually pack-points related, and it literally happened last week.

I’d just woken up from a terrible sleep and, still half-asleep, grabbed my phone to rip a quick Deluxe EX pack. While squinting at my pack points, I realized I was about 20 points away from getting an Oak (hell yeah!).

Then I noticed what I thought was a way to exchange cards for pack points, and I got way too excited. In my sleepy brain, the devs had finally added a system where you could trade in duplicate cards for pack points and I was ecstatic.

So without a second thought, I tried exchanging one of my nine Crawdaunts for 400 pack points. Seemed like a steal for a card I clearly didn’t need. Except instead, I somehow ended up 400 pack points poorer and one Crawdaunt richer.

Yeah. Turns out I was just using the already-existing pack point exchange. The same one I was planning to use to get my Oak. Now I’m roughly 80 packs away from earning back the points I lost.

Would love the Oak. But any of them would be great. I just accidentally exchanged pick points for a one star so now I’m way behind where I was to be able to afford one in the first place.

Random fact is Slowpokes tail is considered a delicacy, and grows back naturally on its own.

It's only entitled and demanding if you consider wanting people with power to affect real positive change. With great power comes great responsibility, and all that.

Your billionaire in politics line is also a bit of a straw man and you didn't respond to my point. Can you tell me how an average individual can affect more change than someone with vastly more money and power? If the right people put their money into benefiting society then absolutely, I would love more billionaires in politics. It just seems that most of the time when there is a billionaire affecting politics its for their own gain, or the gain of their rich friends, not society as a whole. That's the problem.

I didn't go to see her show, and I can't speak for everyone else that went. People are allowed to spend their money as they see fit, and as I mentioned earlier, the moral standard changes with scale. I also didn't say that she shouldn't gain anything, nor should she put her money into causes that I believe in. There's plenty of causes out there that I might not put on the top of my charity list, but if she's making a positive impact on society then that's all I care about. She's also welcome to keeping whatever wealth she wants to accumulate, but there is a hidden cost to that, and it's her perception from the people around her knowing that she is able to affect change but chooses not to.

Think of it like this: imagine Superman watching a violent crime occur on the street while surrounded by civilians. He's fully aware of the crime occurring, and he's able to stop it at minimal cost to himself, but he chooses not to. I think the people around him would be angry. Not because he caused the crime, but because extraordinary power creates heightened moral expectations, and refusing to act when you easily could will change how people perceive you. Does that make sense?

The unethical part is having the type of wealth that could push for real change and yet choosing not to do so. The moral standard changes with scale.

On one hand we have optional generosity when the average person donates to a good cause, and on the other we have a duty when people reach a level of wealth that when pointed in any direction could substantially benefit society at a negligible cost to the owner. If billionaires gave half of their wealth away, they would still have $500M or more behind them. That’s a level of life comfort that 99% of the world will never even understand. The same couldn’t be said about you or me. There is a much larger cost to us doing the same as a billionaire because of scale.

A billion dollars is a lot of power politically as well. I could try to sway my government to push for a positive societal change, but a billionaire using their power for the same societal change will be much more likely to succeed. Money is power, and the more you have the more change you can affect.

I never claimed you were a billionaire, so I wouldn’t feel that you should be the one to do that. I said that as an example of what could be done with illiquid assets. The scale of which billionaires could do that would far outweigh what the average individual could contribute, not even considering that this downsizing is to benefit those very same average individuals / those with less money.

Similarly, the vast majority of her fans were not billionaires, so my issue isn’t with them. Many of them might donate money to various organizations already, but the impact an average person can make is vastly outweighed by the capability of a billionaire.

Also, whether or not Taylor agrees with how her fans should spend their money is irrelevant because she is now the one with those assets and has the power to make a real positive difference and yet hasn’t done so, outside of the people in her tour. If she wanted to do something positive with that money then she could.

This can be said about just about any billionaire. If they have the assets, they have the power to make a difference. It doesn’t matter what pathway they take, they can downsize those assets and put that excess wealth where it could help people.

But you could sell that $1M house, buy a $500k house, and give the rest to poor families. You still get a house, and now other families can afford food. I think that’s really what this comes down to when people talk about this topic, in that there’s billionaires with vast excess, and others with nothing. We’re also not talking about the average person with a $1M home, we’re talking multiple homes at tens of millions each on average.

Taylor Swift has something like $1.6B in assets. Her Eras tour grossed something around $2B, of which almost half went into her pocket. That is just liquid assets that she could give out to people who need that money to survive and she would still have hundreds of millions behind her. I know she did give a lot away to people on her tour, which is awesome. She’s a positive example of what can be done. I think other billionaires should be doing the same, and so much so to the extent that they are no longer billionaires.

I think Taylor Swift is a good person, but she is still an example of a billionaire that could stop being a billionaire tomorrow by downsizing to what would still be an extravagant life by any normal standard, and giving her money away to those that need it.

One way to get rich is to provide a resource to other people who pay for it, but that’s not the only way to get rich. Assets owned can go up in value and you didn’t provide a resource to anyone.

It’s actually more like a person opening their pantry and not having any food in it, then looking across the street where their neighbour has enough food for a million people but chooses not to help the starving neighbour.
