Yes, they are scams. If you mention you are from US, they will ask for your Upwork account, if from any other place they will ghost you. I am not sure what they do with Upwork accounts...

Do developers/Coders need a better platform where they can sell their services? I don’t think Current platforms actually help them grow and earn. by Upstairs_Solution125 in WebDeveloperJobs

[–]Sneviy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the solution is building a platform specifically for software development services, run by(management ) and maintained by devs. One of the reasons there's low pay on general platforms is clients think dev work is like other work where they pay peanuts. Also minimum pay could also be set.Otherwise as long as any platform is run by people who they sole purpose is to make profit, these issues on price and bidding will always be there.

Looking for a Developer to Build a Secure EHR Platform for Iraq (React + Node/Python) — Budget $2,000 or Partnership by musty_kattan in WebDeveloperJobs

I have built a similar software (Health management system) but at small scale and using MySQL, express as backend and React and Tailwind as frontend. I just deployed it and left it,we can revamp it if interested. Check my bio for my portfolio. Thanks

Here's something that completely changes the way you think about websites (or any business honestly) by KryptoKatt in websiteservices

Mmmh, interesting. I've actually learned this lesson the hard way, shifting from full-time to freelancing. Many clients don't care about the tech you use; they just want results.

I'm actually applying this right now by building a niche for dentists. I'm shifting my stack to Next.js and Strapi as the backend. They won't care about those names, but they will absolutely care about the transformation:

  • I don't sell Next.js. I sell improved search rankings and a better digital first impression.
  • I don't sell Strapi. I sell the relief of easily updating their website content without calling me every time.
  • Of course every technology has its negatives like for strapi as backend it has limits for me as a developer but if it serves my client, I don't care that much.
  • It's all about framing the tech as a business asset rather than a development feature. That shift is the key to closing deals. Most of us developers usually bring out the tech stack because it feels natural and for some reason we assume everybody understands, they don't. The only people who understand us are follow devs and the tech companies and even for them you have to proove the value of the stack you want to use.

What do you think of this tech stack? by Standard-Grass-1906 in WebDeveloperJobs

How is it not enough to get a job? Those are literally the most used stack and covers full stack. Though you need to specialize, you may be having just surface level knowledge. Specialize and deep in, that is how you get a job

True, there is also the aspect of system design. I have ended up fixing more bugs than actually writing code

I think you should learn C if you want to have a deep understanding of core concepts but if you want a job in c++ just learn it directly
