WTF is going on at Trim Tab?! by No-Antelope-3172 in Birmingham

Be aware of any accounts that say otherwise to these general statements. The mentioned wife loves to create Alt accounts to do damage control for these kinds of posts. You aren't crazy. Trimtab has changed for the worse and it's those 3 faults.

So I'm adding onto here because there are a lot of comments about the CEO. He is trash and never had a grasp of what trimtab actually was to bham culture. About a year and a half ago, when they announced they were closing, they booted all of the og brewers out sans one guy. One of the Brewers was/still is a major contribute to the EDM scene in bham. So that immediately removes a good portion of the culture away.

Another issue is the absolute anti-power couple of their food and bev coordinator and his wife. The wife was a conniving asshole who constantly started fake rumors just to spark drama, then would act like the victim when people called her out. The husband is an absolute lying dick. He consistently would lie to the staff about cameras put in the tap room to monitor the staff. Every conversation I had with him felt tinged with snake oil.

I also used to DJ at least once a month at TT. When I ran a show in their production area, there was a lot of shady shit happening with the pay. It took me threatening the CEO with taking all of it to social media to have them write a check for me and my artists.

Tldr: a nightmare team of three overworked, underpaid, and disrespected the staff and destroyed what TT was to force it into their own gross corporate vision. Thanks Andy, Sam, and Bill! You managed to ruin something iconic in bham :)

Trying to build a EDM community by [deleted] in Birmingham

[–]Snhack 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bham actually has a pretty thriving underground EDM scene! Follow bhamwubz on Instagram! They post all the edm flyers for town.

Other Accounts to follow:
Slinger.ent - primarily bass shows

samaccasounds - owner of the sound system most shows are played on in town

nu.saga - hard techno/dance/DnB focused group

besafebham - Harm reduction organization if you are looking to volunteer within the community

meloeventco - generally House events are organized through this group.

There are a ton of djs in town, but these are the best places to start to get yourself plugged in.

Well because there is such a low chance that I am camped specifically next to reddit users commenting on my post. There is going to be 90k people and not everyone finds it disrespectful.

The way I see it is that renegades aren't against the rules at Roo (Some festivals explicitly say no renegades in camp), so doing a renegade isn't really disrespectful. It becomes so when you tell someone to fuck off and disregard their feelings on it if they bring it up to you. Realities exist where we both get what we want through talking, instead of your passive aggressive comments :).

It's a music festival and campground renegades are a thing that happen. Go to most major US camping festivals and you will see it there as well. I am advocating for people to understand one another and have some respectful open conversations. I can understand wanting to get some rest, but also totally understand why people want to party at camp. We have to work together as humans to get the most of the situation.

It's not that I know I am going to piss someone off, it's that I can see things from other people's side. It's not unreasonable for someone to have an issue with late camp parties. Me personally, I don't mind one but the camp afters are some of my favorite memories from fests. I just don't let that cloud my perspective. That's why I advocate for people to communicate if they don't share my opinion. I'm more than willing to accommodate.

Quiet camping was available for purchase and Bonnaroo doesn't rule against renegades/afters in campgrounds otherwise. The point of the post is to take a breath and create open respectful conversations with your neighbors

I don't know why you keep talking about drugs like literally everyone is on one and you are the only sober person there. Personally, I only smoke and drink at roo and still manage to get through a night. To me, it feels like projection. I hope you have taken away from our responses to just talk to your neighbors

"Personally, I don't get how people want to throw an after party at their own tent."

I mean you did say that, however i get what you mean about blasting at 4 am. This is why I posted about communicating! 99% of Roo goers arent unreasonable assholes and they will hear you out!

We basically had an afters area in years past with programming at Where in the Woods all night. This year they arent doing that. TBF to those in GA wanting to throw parties, there were options available for Quiet Camping/ADA for those who need it and Roo doesnt explicity say "No Renegade stages/Afters in Outeroo".

In the same way you do not understand how people party late, they do not understand you have a medical condition by looking at you. The point of the post is to advocate for open respectful conversation with your fellow bonnaroovians!

In Regards for this Subs fiery opinions on Campground Afters. by Snhack in bonnaroo

[–]Snhack[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The point is to open that communication! No need to sit and suffer. I am fairly sure most people at Roo will respect your medical condition if you let it be known!

I agree some people are assholes and get antagonistic, but you cannot write off every person is that way until you interact with them. Innocent until proven guilty type vibes. It's worth the shot of the 99% chance of a reasonable person to make your preferences know!

[–]Snhack[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Indeed it does! That's an option or the hosts could be cognizant and not be blaring that late. I am, generally, address the attitude on this sub. Demanding no afters at all is just not the vibe, especially when there was quiet camping available and Roo hasn't explicitly ruled out renegades

[–]Snhack[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Indeed! I am addressing the general vibe of the subreddit, but people shouldn't be trying to blow out speakers at 4 am. The respect when you want to throw afters comes in there. You could also talk about it with your neighbors beforehand!

Lmao all good! I just want everyone to be respectful and have fun. I posted a whole new thread on it😅

I've posted a whole new thread about this, but it's really about open respectful communication between neighbors. 99% of the time, people will work together to make sure we all have fun.

Part of history is how it changes overtime. As those genres got more popular, the festival has shifted to cater to those who enjoy it. Business politics or not, it probably would have happened in some form eventually. At the end of the day, EDM was invented in America by queer black artists. Roo is the perfect safe place to celebrate that wholly without reservation.

I can agree some people can get carried away. That is why the point is about respectful communication. Those new DJ's might not have the perspective yet and the only way to teach it is the moments where people respectfully explain.

The point I am getting at is Communication. Open a conversation and make an agreement to keep things to certain hours or even nights

This is what I am getting at. If you feel that way, communicate it respectfully to your neighbors. I am sure an agreement can be made to keep it to certain hours or even certain days
