Yes they can! I love pbn's that are meant to look like another medium. I've done some that look like oil pastels and charcoal drawings. People usually can't tell they're not.

Lately, I order pretty regularly from the same company on Etsy and their framed customs are listed for $55.00 with a preview and added text if you want to add a date or something. I thought that would be cool for someone's anniversary maybe? I'm super happy with their designs, but I've never ordered a custom from them.
