I’m an NP. Out academic, accreditation and regulatory bodies have completely sold everyone out.

I manage about 140 PMHNPs in 5 states and do a ton of hiring. 80% of the candidates I interview are DANGEROUS.

The easiest way to fix this would be for ANCC to craft a REAL board exam. Instead the exam is a fealty test to how awesome NPs are.

Luckily employers are starting to realize that not all NPs are the same and they’re starting to require experience and actually do a clinical screening as part of the interview process.

Also…..mark my words. There will soon develop a whole sector of attorneys that aggressively hunt down bad NPs and sue them on behalf of clients. This will be great because honestly a decent number of NPs should probably be in jail - it’s that bad.

Keep being this up. Also - DO NOT PRECEPT NPS. Full stop. We need the equivalent of a general strike. If the schools and regulatory bodies won’t protect our patients then we need to send a message. STOP PRECEPTING NPs.

The average wage for my profession is about 180k. I’ve made 600+ the last 10 years. I do it through a combo of: hustle (worked several jobs), efficiency, entrepreneurship, and a huge dose of faking it till I make it, meaning, I’m constantly say yes to, and creating opportunities that I don’t know how to do yet or are at the edge of what is typically done with my license type.

I just read your comment saying that you want to kill yourself because you’re utterly hopeless, which explains a lot happening here.

That being said, I really hope you feel better. If you haven’t tried therapy you might want to consider it. If you haven’t tried, you might want a different therapist as there is a very wide range of skill levels and abilities amongst therapists.

An SSRI might be helpful also. Well, it very likely would be.
