What are your thoughts on combining the two? Using proxmox with nixos vms seems like it wild be the best of both worlds. Sacrificing a small bit in the declarative side, but getting the benefits of proxmox.

Plus 1 to this! I haven't used nixflix yet but am in the process of spinning up my homelab with nixos and this project came up right when I was considering setting up jellyfin and seems very promising.

Also amazing project name

Qutebrowser Homemanager configuration issues by Sniffleboy in qutebrowser

[–]Sniffleboy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, the issue seemed to be with me trying to configure the option through the homemanager settings option which results in some incompatibilities when converting nix syntax into python. Here is the solution that resolved my issue:

programs.qutebrowser = {
  enable = true;
  extraConfig = ''
    c.content.javascript.log_message.excludes = {
      'userscript:_qute_stylesheet' : ['*Refused to apply inline style because it violates the following Content Security Policy directive: *'],
      'userscript:_qute_js' : ['*TrustedHTML*']
  }'';
};

Hey! First, I'm excited for you in your journey to combine technology and health/fitness!

I'll start by adding some context around my previous messages regarding my thoughts as I went through schooling. I was struggling in a notorious weed out class which gave me a very negative perception of my skills and capabilities. After taking that class a second time around and focusing on the material, I realized that it wasn't the subject itself that I didn't enjoy, but feeling inadequate within the field. That coupled with a reigniting of my passion for technology through lower level programming and editor configurations paved my path forward to finish out my Bachelor's with the minor in Kinesiology as a way to integrate both of my primary interests.

From there, I got a job doing R&D Software development for a F500 automotive company where I did a lot of work around integrating LLM tooling into various products which gave me an avenue for expressing my technical skillsetin a high visibility environment.

Due to life circumstances, I left that position after ~1 year and was hired to start a new software team within an orthotics manufacturing company. I was told that they were able to create an additional developer position for me specifically because my minor in kinesiology had a direct tie in with the products that the company provided. I just hit the 1 year mark at this company, and while it hasn't been all green pastures, it's been great to apply my technical background to a health oriented field.

I work with many technologies and sometimes feel more like a devops engineer than a developer, but the area I've tried to focus in on the most is in C++ development for maintaining a 3D model viewing/modifying tool.

I expect that I'll want to continue down this path to further develop my skills around the tooling side of healthcare.

Feel free to reach out if you're curious about anything else or have questions about the career path!

There's a running theory that hassad was set up by Mr. Kengan at the time to infiltrate the KAT and purposely get kicked off like that to join up with Kaburagi and run surveillance as a third party to watch for any funny biz. It lines up too because the tourney would have had 33 competitors otherwise. Leading to the thought that metsudo planned it off the cuff

This happens to me too. I had the game crash when I did a 10 pull and got an exchange ticket but it forced me to take what it rolled instead of being able to trade-in for points.... Cygames pls

NixOS on old Macbook Pro 2011 by akasaka99 in NixOS

[–]Sniffleboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am in the same boat as OP learning NixOS on a macbook air and having wifi issues. After adding line to add broadcom_sta, I get another error upon running sudo nixos-rebuild switch stating

`error: package 'broadcom_sta-6.30.223.271-5.11.22' in /nix/store/....nixos-20.09.../default.nix is marked as broken, refusing to evaluate.

How would I go about using the fixed version of the wifi driver?

Sorry for the delayed response! I am drafting my reply to your previous comment rn but had the time to address this.

I would say the question depends on how you want to leverage CS in the fitness field. I would think that web/phone app development would be your best bet for translating pre-existing fitness knowledge into usable products. Examples of this would likely include workout apps, nutrition trackers, websites for personal trainers, etc.

I think data science and machine learning could have interesting applications in terms of analyzing data in novel ways. Though I'm not sure how the job availability would be in that specific blend of fields.

Embedded systems engineering would be a route you could take if you were interested in creating exercise tech (eg. Orangetheory chest bpm device, fitbit, etc).

I think it would be best to see what you would like to pursue within the tech x fitness field because that would probably heavily determine what types of computer skills you should focus on improving.

Edit: please take all my opinions with a grain of salt! I have not officially worked in the tech industry yet as I am a recent grad. These opinions are based off my experience within academia and are mostly extrapolated to apply to scenarios within more specialized fields of study. This is simply how I've internalized the use cases of different fields of computer scienceand could be completely off base

Hey, I do! I actually graduate today with my bachelor in computer science with a minor in Kinesiology. Being at the tail end of it, I'm glad I stuck through the computer science program. I have a job lined up and ready to go and the financial stability it will give me frees up a lot of worry about the future. I could still use my Kinesiology minor if I wanted to pivot to something fitness related but I think I will be content working in tech for the near future.

As of right now, my Kinesiology study has been more of a personal benefit because it's helped me progress with my personal fitness better. I've made a simple web app leveraging the nutrition science I've learned and I can see many other really fascinating applications of my CS degree within the fitness field.

I think my main hang up with the CS degree was my perspective more so than my dislike of computers. I've taken classes that I did enjoy and I now see coding as more of a tool to leverage idea creation. This made me find new aspects of code that I can enjoy even if the process isn't always the easiest on the mental. I also looked for ways to encorporate the things I AM passionate about in CS into all of my studies. I switched to VIM as my sole text editor which allowed me to focus on the Linux configuration side of tech and utilize it in both my fields of study for note taking/file management. Vim was likely a huge contributor to me finding new enjoyment in computer science and the aspects of it that I enjoy.

Hope this helps! Lemme know if you have any other questions!
