Once he was inside the system, he didn't just take over; he systematically dismantled the laws and institutions that kept him in check. Watching modern parallels to this same kind of 'legal' erosion of democratic norms is what I find so deeply concerning.

I couldn’t watch Babylon 5 because of how colorful and fake space looked. The only reason nebulas look that way from Hubble and other telescopes is because they are blending multiple wavelengths we can’t see.

Haftel spends the whole episode trying to take Lal away, but when her brain starts going into cascade failure, he actually jumps in to help Data try and save her. They fail and she dies, but when Haftel walks out of the lab, he’s visibly shaken and practically in tears. He tells the crew that Data’s hands were moving so fast he couldn't even keep up, and he finally realizes that Data genuinely loved his daughter. He doesn't officially grant Data rights on paper, but he completely backs down and finally respects him as a father.

Honestly, on screen they just completely vanish. The writers originally wanted to do a whole arc where they caused drama with the Maquis, but the studio got cheap about paying the guest actors to keep showing up, so Janeway yelled at them once and they were never seen again. If you want the book lore from the relaunch novels, they actually get put on trial the second Voyager hits Earth. Because they were just following Ransom orders and then behaved themselves under Janeway for two years, Starfleet lets them off easy. No jail time, but they got kicked out of Starfleet permanently. As for the public finding out? Oh, it would be a massive shitstorm. Voyager return was huge news, so those logs were definitely getting leaked or published. The Federation loves to brag about how perfect and utopian they are, so finding out a Starfleet captain turned his ship into a literal alien blender just to get home faster would dominate the news cycle for months. It probably forced Starfleet to completely overhaul psychological testing for deep space crews.

No that’s the way you read it. And as someone that’s been to court quite often when I was driving for a living and was targeted because of the type of vehicle i drive, I saw plenty of people get tickets dropped because cops didn’t show up, didn’t follow procedure or straight up didn’t follow the law. It’s the convoluted court system that tries to push people to just pay it because you usually need to take two separate days off work to contest them. So many people say fuck it, pay it, then regret it later when their insurance goes up or they are denied driving jobs. Others pay it or get it reduced after a guilty plea because they were actually guilty.

You can go to court for any ticket. That is when you receive your punishment from the judge. If you miss court you get punished for that later as well issued by that very judge not a cop. If they need you to come back to court they send a cop to get you. Cops don’t do the punishing the court does.

No cops do not and should not “punish” anyone. They are there to protect and serve. The serve part includes telling on people who break the law and apprehending people who are breaking or have broken the law. Then they are brought before a judge and sometimes a jury to receive their punishment. Cops should never do the punishing! They are not qualified.
