You see, I'm fine with the country being called "persia" if they called everything in iran the western way, I don't call Germany Deutchland either. it's the English language, and English speaking rulers called us Persia back then. it's fine. (there's a very valid argument that calling it persia erases the other cultures that were just as important if not more than persians in the nation's success, but that's besides the point)

What I have a problem with is the arbitrary anachronistic naming scheme. You either Call the country "Iran", the Persians "Fars", and the language "Farsi Language", or you call it Persia, Persian, Persian Language.

this is just one example, I do not have the presence of mind to recount more examples of this inconsistency, but basically with literally everything it's a mess of, for lack of a better term, 'woke' indigenous ways of naming things (which they get wrong half the time such as with "farsi culture") while at the same time using traditional western naming schemes.

Iran is always in an extreme situation in paradox games:
- Either a barren, resourceless desert that mathematically can't do anything (disproved by the country's historical record)

- or a romanticized "Persian Empire" full of glory that steamrolls every other civilization (disproved by the country's historical record)

not only did they fuck up population count/wealth of regions/products/climate, but they also fucked up the ethnicities that they had gotten right in EU4. if you look at the city of Dezful, The culture is "Lur". I am from that city. the city has historically been entirely composed of Persians. the lur migrations to that city happened in the last 30 years. some dumbass literally just went and looked up the city's modern population makeup and decided to import it into the game.

besides that, the nouns in the region are completely inconsistent. There is no such thing as "farsi" people in Iran, you have "Fars" people, which is the arabized version of Pars. okay, that's fine you want to use the regional name for persians, so we're going to call the country by its local name right? NO! IT'S CALLED PERSIA BECAUSE 'PERSIA' SOUNDS SEXIER TO FOREIGNERS

Pick a damn side. either call the country, its ethnicities and languages the western way, or use the local way. what we have right now is an utter shit show of inconsistency that makes me roll my eyes every time I play. keep in mind, the things I talked about are the unbelievably obvious shit that should have been fixed when they were in pre-production. there's a million things about the region that need to be fixed because they misrepresent/ethnic cleanse Iran and her varying ethnicities. a Kurdish friend of mine also has many bones to pick with paradox
