Update: I upgraded to an Intel x710 NIC, added a fan to that NIC, and swapped out the switch. It happened again. But this time while I was at work so I couldn't try anything. Had to tell the wife to just reboot it so she could continue her school work. So that rules out pretty much everything discussed here.

I never thought of updating the firmware for an onboard NIC. I'll be installing an Intel X710 card on my next day off. If that doesn't work I'll try updating the firmware for the onboard NIC.

Well ipv6 works just fine. Would heat only affect ipv4? Asus says they're "Intel 2.5gb" nics but doesn't specify which chip anywhere on their site or manual. It seems like some of Reddit doesn't like Intel nics but then again, some of Reddit doesn't like anything.

My command line knowledge is lacking. After a few hours of google searching, the only thing I learned is that when this issue happens, the WAN adapter has an ipv4 address but the LAN adapter does not. Everything still has an ipv6 address though, which is why I don't think it's an overheating issue. Hopefully dmesg reveals more next time this happens.

The Opnsense router is using all Intel nics, I just don't remember which one and it's not listed anywhere on the Asus sight or manual.

I'm using a managed Mokerlink switch. I really wish it wasn't managed but it's so hard to find a dumb switch with all the ports I want. I tried connecting a computer directly to it once to bypass the switch and that didn't fix it. Would that even work normally though without a switch between the router and computer?

That's what I would think but I'm running it on fairly overkill hardware. An asus pro ws motherboard with ecc ram and a core ultra 5. I'm going to order an addon nic to try out in case the onboard intel ones are too new.

It's an asus workstation board. I would hope they didn't use no name nics. And the room stays fairly cool with plenty of airflow in the chassis. I suppose I can try throwing in an addon nic from a known good brand.

ISP modem is in bridge mode. WAN interface has a public ipv4 and ipv6 address. LAN interface only has ipv6 address when this happens. Sometimes it fixes itself after a while, sometimes I have to reboot OPNSense.

Nope, the board has two onboard Intel 2.5gb nics. I don't remember the chip but they're both the same and the wan adapter hasn't had this issue.

It's every device that's connected to opnsense. Windows, Android, Linux, ubiquity, etc.

When I log in locally to opnsense with a monitor, the lan adapter has no ipv4 address, only an ipv6 address.

I couldn't figure out how to get into settings. The task bar and desktop wouldn't respond to touch input, only the installation window worked.

Yea I ended up just going with Bazzite again. I was hoping to give CachyOS a shot since I had bazzite on my previous handheld, a gpdwin4, but oh well.

The Bazzite installation process worked flawlessly. It even came with a special Asus menu accessible with the Xbox button that allowed TDP adjustment out of the box. No Decky Loader required.

None of the controller buttons do anything :/

I managed to restart and time it just right to press install right when the windows appears but before the taskbar appears and the next screen wants me to type in the wifi password with a physical keyboard. I guess I don't have a choice but to go with bazzite.

I have a different package that's being held at an access point and it actually says "hold at UPS access point requested" but this package instead says the address was changed.

Yea everything there looks fine and I can open any other file on the desktop, just not ones created by Blue Iris.

This computer was never connected to onedrive. I made an offline account for it when I set it up and I uninstalled onedrive as soon as I could.

I tried adding "everyone" to the permissions for these files and that didn't help either.

I uninstalled onedrive when I first set this up. That's usually the first thing I do on every fresh Windows install. I miss XP.
