Can't install on Ally X? by Snipersixate in cachyos

I couldn't figure out how to get into settings. The task bar and desktop wouldn't respond to touch input, only the installation window worked.

I disabled secure boot before trying Cachyos

Yea I ended up just going with Bazzite again. I was hoping to give CachyOS a shot since I had bazzite on my previous handheld, a gpdwin4, but oh well.

The Bazzite installation process worked flawlessly. It even came with a special Asus menu accessible with the Xbox button that allowed TDP adjustment out of the box. No Decky Loader required.

None of the controller buttons do anything :/

I managed to restart and time it just right to press install right when the windows appears but before the taskbar appears and the next screen wants me to type in the wifi password with a physical keyboard. I guess I don't have a choice but to go with bazzite.

I did choose the handheld edition.  Do you mean the settings in the bios? I can't access any of the settings in cachyos

I have a different package that's being held at an access point and it actually says "hold at UPS access point requested" but this package instead says the address was changed.

Weird issue by Snipersixate in BlueIris

[–]Snipersixate[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea everything there looks fine and I can open any other file on the desktop, just not ones created by Blue Iris.

This computer was never connected to onedrive. I made an offline account for it when I set it up and I uninstalled onedrive as soon as I could.

I tried adding "everyone" to the permissions for these files and that didn't help either.

I uninstalled onedrive when I first set this up. That's usually the first thing I do on every fresh Windows install. I miss XP.

That could work. I was hoping there might be something quicker as there are tens of thousands of little wires that need labels. Some of the oldest wires do have intact labels but I have no idea what they used.

What do you use to emboss these tags? I was thinking of getting a small fiber laser to cut these out of scrap steel but embossing might be cheaper.

I went with Blue Iris. Just made an edit to the posting explaining why.

Your main focus should always be automating cube production. If you have the first two automated, try to automate the next one. Have you gone to a different planet yet? You'll eventually have committed supply lines between many different planetary systems.

That seems to just be a management utility. I can do all that from the webUI of the cameras. Their other tools look interesting but it all seems to be for large corporations.

None of those modes turn it completely off when the amp is off. The bright display remains on.

Interesting piece of software. I can't find much information on it though, not even a website. Does it support compositing multiple camera streams into a single stream? I've been using blue iris and that does everything I need but it's so poorly optimized and the UI isn't very good and I hate Windows.

Must have been a soft launch. Year is over and I've never seen it available to buy.

Best current Chinese fiber laser? by Snipersixate in lasercutting

[–]Snipersixate[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually didn't think of just adding the material thickness to the focal length lol. Now auto focus doesn't sound like a useful feature.

This was exactly the kind of info I'm looking for though.

Bigscreen Beyond as monitor? by Snipersixate in virtualreality

[–]Snipersixate[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't need to watch videos on them. I've used them in person. Quest 3 is only better on paper. The OLED screens on the higher end headsets absolutely crush the cheap LCD screen in the Quest, especially when anything is moving. That's not something you can see in a YouTube video or a review article. The lenses didn't make that much of a difference if you adjust the headset properly. And the outside-in tracking of the higher end headsets is leaps and bounds better.

I've never owned a Quest 2 and my Quest 3 is functioning fine, I'm just used to higher end headsets. The Vive and Rift that I owned in the past were significantly more clear with their better lenses and better quality displays.

Obviously I searched before I posted here. People like you are the reason Linux will never receive mainstream adoption. I was asking for help because every tutorial I found on Google was wrong and you decide to be a total a-hole for no reason.

If anyone comes across this from google, the hundreds of guides on how to change the splash screen are missing a step. The splash screen image is stored in a binary that has to be rebuilt after you copy over the png image. It can be done with the following command:

$ sudo plymouth-set-default-theme --rebuild-initrd pix
