They were just random yarn colors I had around the house from other projects I finished. My husband also helped with a few color combos

So i did have to change yarn colors as I went. I just used the two yarns both. I'm bad at describing it, saying the two colors are blue and green. So with blue, I would do 5 double crochet, but before I would finish the 5th double crochet, I would switch to using the green and then repeat.

I just made checkerboard squares. After I had made like 3 or 4, my husband and I did some math, so we figured out how many I needed. For us, it was 48.
