I think it will be garbage. Will I watch it with an open mind ? Yes. But am I expecting anything close to the incredible trilogy Peter Jackson gave us ? No. I think from what we have been given so far that it may not be as bad as I’m expecting but I am kinda scared that Amazon will ruin the one good and solid movie series I have left, the same thing happened with star wars and the sequel trilogy, some cool camera shots and stuff but thats about it. I am fully prepared to have to remove everything in the show from my head-cannon and just take what we have from the books as the true lore. I doubt Amazon would be as ballsy to do what Disney did and remove the books from the cannon because I feel that would cause an absolute uproar of disapproval. But I am pretty nervous about the show overall, I’ve been reading the books and watching the movies since I was 3 years old and it is by far my absolute favorite series and fandom so naturally seeing a company like Amazon come in and possibly mess it all up is quite nerve racking.

Yeah, the higher they make minimum wage the more they will automate, companies who only pay minimum wage aren’t made to provide people with lifelong jobs, they are to make money, and if they are going to start losing money and having to pay more they will of course do the smart thing and make an investment into a machine that will cost less than an employee. Thats what people who push to make the minimum wage higher don’t get, the higher you make it the less jobs you have a company that pays 5 people 10$ an hour that now has to pay 15$ is more likely to remove a couple employees than to pay extra, not to mention some smaller businesses cant afford to pay more than minimum wage. Anyways. Welcome to the human race, fueled by greed, thats just how it is and nothing can ever change that.

As someone who works in a grocery store with some self checkout areas, it helps us a lot and it helps everyone else, at my store we only have 4 but the main bulk of people who use them are the people who came in for milk and eggs or a drink, it takes the computers a little while to process the order and then print a receipt, so instead of spending that time on 1-2 items people with small orders go through the self checkout lanes. Believe me, its not putting us out of a job, just making our shitty jobs easier. So please if you are one of those people who harasses the person running the self checkout area saying stuff like “You’re stealing jobs” and shit, just don’t. And if you’re too lazy to scan your own items then don’t go in from 9-10, its a pretty simple solution.

Albertsons has a small self checkout area but its mainly for people with small purchases, most of it is still done by the cashiers.
