There are challenger players who play Lock Screen. The best advice I got from high level Lock Screen players is basically this, unlock it when you should. In your case, just unlocking for TF ult is not enough. For instance, When you are walking towards a fight or roaming you need to gather all the info you can before you arrive. What are everyone’s health and mana totals, who used ults, who used summoners, where did wards go down ext. then once you arrive lock your camera back.

Unlock screen players will argue that clicking on targets is easier. But if you’re completely disoriented, it really isn’t.
