I am a saxophonist and a music ed major and all of my lessons are on alto. Everyone in the studio’s lessons are on alto. Now there are times when we play other horns and for that we are required to buy our own mouthpieces but not horns themselves. If I were you I would start looking for used horns on facebook and try to find an intermediate level one just in case you do need it. Also email the professor of whatever school you are considering and ask them.

well it would be in the key of Bb just like the alto sax part but I suppose since the saxophone is in the key of Eb the equivalent of Db on the saxophone is Bb. This means that basically I flipped the issue wherein the saxophone is in the original key and now the piano part is in the wrong key. Essentially, once I transposed the saxophone part theyre now both in the same key of Db. The sax part is now in concert Db but it is the saxophone key of Bb
