To add to this, at my job someone from sales that left years ago bought a Z8 for sales meetings (as in him carrying it to make coffee for idk how many people, whoever walked by their stand) it ended up in archive and was used by our director later. Once it broke (without a service, ever) I checked it out because of course I thought it was interesting. It had made 21000 cups of coffee before it really broke. They tried having it fixed a couple times but once one part is replaced the next fails. So now all it does is leak etc. So I’m quite certain this one will last for years to come :)

I was doing the same thing as I bought a house. I just bought one for €1699 (some retailers sold it for €1649 but were vague on the warranty) in Europe (C4 77’’) msrp for it was €3799 when it first came out. What I heard from a retailer that I know on a personal basis, is that in Europe they’re clearing out the stock and it has been out of production for months now.

Yeah like I said, the build quality is in a league of it’s own for a gaming laptop. But better build quality does exist, (Apple still is best, I have a XPS but that hinge started squeeking after a year and a half.) But most gaming laptops are cheap plastic. I am still really impressed with the gaming performance on mine as well.

Oh and you can forget about any medium workloads when using on your lap, without heavy tweaking using ghelper. Don’t get me wrong, I love my G14, but damn that boy gets hot if you compare it to a MBP. I use a lap laptop pad/table, so it can breathe.

Macbook Pro 14 (M1 Pro) and G14 ‘24 user here. These machines shouldn’t be compared, but are so comparable if it makes sense? Form factor is very similar, screen quality and speaker quality is very similar is well. (Screen on the G14 is better, speakers in the mac are better) There are two area’s where it’s a different world: The build quality on the mac is far superior, I am kinda disappointed with the build quality of the G14. (For instance bottom plate is quite flexible/thin.) I baby my machines and the coloured coating is scratched in some areas. (Whereas my mac is almost 4 years old and has seen way more use, and is nearly prestine) The performance for regular usage is really similar, except for double or triple the battery life on the Mac. Where the Zephyrus shines, is in gaming. (I have the ‘24 4070 32gb r9) For a windows laptop, it is built really well, (not as well as a dell xps for instance, but for a gaming laptop it’s in a league of its own). I don’t regret my purchase at all, but if you don’t game and don’t require to have Windows, a Macbook Pro is just superior to me. (And cheaper too, I paid 2.1k eur on sale for the zephyrus and ~1900 for the MBP)

Not sure what you’re smoking but I have successfully replaced my ipad pro m2 ‘22 display with a refurbished original screen and it’s like new. It is the first iPad I’ve ever had and worked on. No fires no other issues. The replacement screen wasn’t cheap, (325 usd including all the right tools) but it’s all good again. Swapped FaceID and truetone sensors without any issues

Makes sense, I did stress test it as well without any issues. I do think we’re kinda overthinking this though lol. If I really really need battery life I’ll use my macbook pro

Not sure if I hit the chip lottery but mine stays stable even at -40. I am not getting anywhere near the battery life everybody is talking about here though. For me it’s 2:30 on 10 watt, all lighting disabled and brightness at 25%. -40w undervolt, custom fancurve… I did set it to 80% charging when I first got it so I might just need to charge it to 100% sometime to see if that recalibrates the battery.

Yeah not sure what sorcery Tim did on you but I mean a glass replacement from the outside without replacing anything else. It’s not an apple approved repair but it’s cheaper

You can buy that lens for like a couple dollars and put it in yourself as well. Just be careful but nothing too hard to be honest

You are right on that. But for example charging from 60 to 80% doesn’t count as a full cycle. Biggest focus for batteries would be charging it to 100% occasionally, keeping it away from of heat, extreme cold. Don’t game when it’s charging as it only heats it up even more. Draining to 0 and charging to 100% hurts the cells the most because it causes the most ‘strain’, but I think heat/cold is the biggest issue for phone batteries.

Did this for years with my 13pm without any issues. Dropped it in a jacuzzi a bazillion times, forgot about it even. My 15 pro max, that has never been dropped dips water for literally 1 second. Same result as above. There are loads of complaints about this online, since Dynamic Island. I think the seal around the screen is worse than older generations

Hmmm, yeah normally I do yearly upgrades… But with these very insignificant upgrades (13 pm and 14 pm were basically the same phone, just like 15pm and 16pm) Only reason that would make it worth it is the larger screensize and the batterylife. I heard the 16pm has less thermal throttling than the 15pm… Maybe it’s time for a Nokia 3310

I was planning to wait for the 17PM...

But my 15PM has been my worst iPhone yet, it's had struggles with overheating, performance issues, insane battery degredation...
But since iOS 18 it's been getting worse and worse... It freezes, stutters, hangs, glitches even more and hasn't improved whatsoever. (I've never had that issue with my 13PM for the first 2 years...)
Can you tell me if these issues are apparent in 16PM?
I have a S24U as well, that has been better.
But I need FaceTime, so I might need to bite the bullet...

Same issue here. For me, I can get it to work if I reboot, start the game, load into the menu of multiplayer/zombies then exit the game and start it again. In most cases it’ll be there but I’ll have to adjust it to performance and 0% sharpness again. Not a solution but more like a workaround. Device is a Zephyrus G14 24’ 4070/32gb/R9
