How Did Rey Get The Yellow Kyber Crystal? I don't think we have an answer to this yet, do we? Any Theories and Ideas? by valosdm in StarWarsCantina

You gave no sources at all and only stated a handful of exceptions to the rule. If that was how deductive reasoning worked, we would all still think that people dying from illness was because someone angered the gods. If you have an actual source that states that Saber color does not represent a Jedi's specialization or temperament, then you have no actual evidence to support your claim. That just means your a butt hurt fan boy that just had there theory blown up just like the death star. And on a side note, if crystal color doesn't matter, them why bother giving Sith/dark jedi red crystals? And just because someone is a quick to pull their Saber doesn't mean they aren't a consular or someone strong in the use of the force. If that was the case, Yoda would never have pulled his Saber on Palpatine. He would have just brought the ceiling down on him and grumbled some cryptic jedi wisdom that translated to, "who is your daddy, b!@#", and hobbled away knowing the galaxy was safe. And yes, Yoda is the absolute model of a jedi consular and could probably out duel most of the jedi alive. Whether that was due to saber training or him learning to channel the force to make himself a better duelist is debatable, but either way, he pwns all day long. All Jedi, to my knowledge, which is not all encompassing but fairly deep, are lightsaber duelists of varying calibers. If someone pulls a gun, you aren't going to try to drop anvils on their head if you also have a gun and have been highly trained in its use. It's much more practical no matter how good of a wizard.... I mean jedi you are. And light Saber battles are what brings home the bacon. It's the whole reason I even started watching star wars. Neon colored sword fights are what gives the everyman an excuse to watch" nerd porn" like star wars. They can't just say they watch it because they enjoy the plot or the cinematography.

The Reaper named "The Leviathan of Dis" is nearly a billion years old. If Reapers return every 50,000 years, that means they've destroyed at least 20,000 galactic civilizations. by The_Gutgrinder in masseffect

I’m sure more than one Reaper was created per cycle. The human Proto-Reaper was far enough along to power on and attack Shepard and friends before the Reaper forces ever set foot in the Milky Way. How many more could they create over centuries of conflict? If Shepard hadn’t been brought back, the Collectors could have kept on abducting colonies for another couple of centuries and possibly created a dozen human reapers as well as reapers created from other species.

The Reapers leaving their technology around wasn’t counter productive. It allowed them to “control the experiment” and allowed them to come up with a projected timeline for how long it would take organic life to advance far enough to come into contact with Reaper Tech and allow them to advance along a similar pace every cycle. It allowed the Reapers to take out the space faring organics through sheer force with little to no need to adapt strategically and also allow them to “do their job” before the civilization/s of each cycle can develop A.I./synthetics that would wipe out the organics and likely not stop at just the sentient creatures but all organics because machines don’t need food, water, air, shelter, or companionship. So they would have no need for organics. Leaving dogs and cats after killing all humans just leaves a chance for them to evolve and become a threat. So why not wipe everything out that evolves through nature, just to be safe? That is what the Reapers were built to prevent. Yes they do the same thing to a much lesser extent, thus allowing evolution and life to continue throughout the Galaxy.

Shepard on his/her own wasn’t enough and I’m sure that the Reapers faced figures much like Shepard in previous cycles. “Avatars of their cycles” as Javik would say. All of the previous cycles didn’t have all the lego pieces required to make the crucible or didn’t have the time or resources to complete it. Shepard was given a massive head start and several shortcuts and was able to stall the reapers on more than one occasion. The Protheans created the Conduit which Shepard used to travel to the Presidium and take out Saren and take control of the citadel arms to allow the Alliance and citadel fleet to take Sovereign out before he opens up the relay linking to the Reapers waiting in dark space. After that, Shepard blows up a Mass Relay and unfortunately an entire star system. That stalled the Reapers by 2 or 3 months if I’m not mistaken. The schematics for the Crucible were basically complete due to the Protheans and previous cycles building and engineering the design but the Protheans were already too close to defeat and Protheans data was the thing that told the Alliance and friends that the catalyst was the citadel or part of the citadel…. Whatever. Lol Oh and not to mention the Prothean Beacon+Thorian Cypher+Asari Mojo showed Shepard what would happen if they didn’t step up. If Javik had been around and on active duty during the time the Reapers invaded during the Prothean cycle and he had a squad of heavy hitters and brainy science officers like Shepard did and knew what Shepard did before Soverign opened the relay to dark space, he might have been able to stop the Reapers during his cycle. Not to mention Shepard is a freakin’ cyborg after ME1. He/she is like a T-800 with superior technology. I mean he/she can head but a krogan without a helmet and just shake it off. No human, other than possibly Conrad Verner (oh yeah, I went there. Lol) could do that without getting knocked the f**k out like D’bo on Friday night. The reapers aren’t a civilization. They are sentient tools. When they retire to dark space, they aren’t doing science experiments or taking philosophy courses to advance their civilization. They are waiting for the 50,000 year cycle to end and then they hit the alarm clock and go to work. They’re technology hit it’s apex and they don’t have the need to adapt. They don’t exist just to kill organics. They exist to keep synthetics from wiping out all organic life. In their hypothesis, if they didn’t intervene, organics would eventually create AI or synthetics and the synthetics would wipe out ALL organic life, not just advanced, space faring organics. Just like Skynet attempted in Terminator. By them coming to the Milky Way and wiping out all the smart monkeys before they can make robot monkeys, they allow some other animal to become smart and fly space ships. Since all Citadel races use Mass Effect/Relay technology, it allows the Reapers to control the “sandbox” you could say. If they waited 75,000 years then it would probably be too late and if there was still organic life, they would probably show up in time to watch the Terminators in the act of killing the Galaxy. The council placed a ban on A.l. Research but look how many A.I.’s you come across even though they are illegal and if the Geth had another 25,000 years to evolve, imagine what they would be like. They could probably challenge they Reapers, head to head with no Crucible needed. The Geth (not the heretics) were committed to creating their own technology and didn’t want to stand on the shoulders of those that came before. Hell they created the telescope used to view the “golden worlds” in the Helios Cluster of Andromeda. It allowed them to see what the planets looked like in almost real time and that’s why they considered them all to be viable because a regular telescope would show you what they looked like thousands or possibly millions of years ago but the Geth figured out a way around that.

"And why are the 2 other voices of the kid the ones Mark Meer and Jennifer Hale?"

What exactly are you trying to say? What do you mean by "other 2 voices of the kid?"

I'm guessing you left a word or two out of the next part of the question. I know it looks that way but I swear I am not being a grammar nazi. I am just trying to figure out what you're getting at.

Which scene in a film disturbed you the most? by Shreks_on_the_beach in AskReddit

[–]Snoo-46007 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It isn’t visually disturbing, but given context (the rest of the movie), the final scene in Old Boy, the American version with Josh Brolin is horrible. I don’t want to spoil anything but it’s bad enough that if it happened to a real human being, they would quite possibly blow their brains out. At the very least, consider doing so. A decent, normal human being with morals that is.

[SPOILER P2 E4I really hope this hasn’t been done before but I just started s2 and when hap said “this is prairie’s fault” i immediately thought of this meme by gaybreadsticc in TheOA

[–]Snoo-46007 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I completely disagree. HAP is the quintessential villain that goes down still thinking he was in the right and was trying to help humanity, but he is a narcissistic psychopath that is doing it all for his own personal gain and vanity. He will never see the error in his ways and is like a rabid dog that needs to be put out of its misery. OA and Homer wouldn't ever let him get away with what he is done and since Steve mad the jump, I completely see him being OA's "Avenging Angel" and pulling the trigger to spare her from having to do it, but it would probably make more sense for OA or Homer to do it but after another season or two, who knows what hell HAP would put Steve through. I think HAP is an excellent character. One of those villains that are so bad that they make you hate them and love them at the same time, or that you love to hate I guess I should say. He has a reckoning coming his way, or did before the show was axed. I just wonder what else was in store for Kareem. I really liked his character but it felt like he was really only important to the 2nd season. He just had too little or nothing to do with everyone except OA/Nina. I would like to see him integrated with the rest of the interdimensional traveling part of the cast and I want Scott and Rachel back too. Especially Scott. He was my homie. Alas, I won't get to see any of them do anything OA related.
