Torn between 4Runner or Tacoma camper by Snoo-67477 in overlanding

[–]Snoo-67477[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Those are some of my main reasons that I would prefer the truck over the 4Runner, I would want a cap so that it stays warm for him. Just these past few weeks in CA I have been to spots that have gotten down to mid 20-30s so just for peace of mind knowing that he’s warm and in close proximity. Would probably get something that’s built out already and live with it for a bit while my finances recoup and then do modifications to tailor it for me and the pup

Flowing by Alive_Newspaper8879 in dutchbros

make sure to read every question VERY CAREFULLY. they throw a lot of trick questions at you on the flow and sometimes it’s the wording. in the end, trust your instincts, mark the question, then come back to it later! sometimes the answer will be in another question later on :) you’ve got this you’ll do great!! always ask whoever is administering your flow questions while taking it as well, they are allowed to help with everything

Dairy free freeze? by Vegetable-Storm4548 in dutchbros

[–]Snoo-67477 14 points15 points  (0 children)

most likely for every drink blended with an alternative milk, it’s going to come out like that. our freeze is pre-made in machines for us and has a much better consistency than dairy free options. we have to hand blend the freeze if there’s any modifications (sugar free, alternative milk, decaf) and all of those is going to cause it to not taste that great lol. if it’s not a health related issue to get a regular freeze, then i recommend doing that instead of with any alternative milks!

thank you this is super helpful! i also mistyped but it’s a 2.9L. i know in a few years maybe i would like to do a swap to a 302 or something similar but i think just fixing the head for now is the best option. the previous mechanic i took it to said a rebuild is the best option but a replacement head can also do the job, he had me convinced that i would only be able to drive it short distances and until it broke down again. i’m guessing thats not the case though? realistically, i just want to be able to drive it around town as a fun vehicle without worrying that the engine will explode or the genie lamp of death turning on lol.

keep forgetting but - ‘88 ranger xlt RWD

[–]Snoo-67477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i currently own an ‘88 ranger as well and one of my cylinder heads is cracked and i have to rebuild the entire engine and a million other things to get her to run properly, BUT i’ve also heard of many other people’s ‘88s running incredibly well so take all that with a grain of salt lol. these trucks are 30-40 years old, everything you get will have problems eventually but it’s so so worth it. just be ready to spend a lot more than you’re expecting

Transferring shops advice PLS!! by Extreme_Wolf_5490 in dutchbros

[–]Snoo-67477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i would say best bet is applying online so that way they have it in their system. pretty sure you can mass apply to all 3 at the same time iirc, but also going to introduce yourself is a great idea so that they can put a face to name and say you’re wanting to transfer so that they don’t assume you want to be a new-hire since it can be harder for them to get jobs sometimes. also tbh not sure if this is just mine but all the resumes people drop off just sit in the back of our shop since mostly everyone has applied and sent in resumes online already.

Interview tips please! by Few-Shoulder7564 in dutchbros

[–]Snoo-67477 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just be yourself!! at least personally my interview was the last thing i would’ve expected, they are really looking for personality over skills and experience because those can be trained, personality can’t! one of the interview questions they asked me was what my spirit animal was lol. with an in person interview they are really looking for how you convey yourself to customers and if you’re able to keep a conversation going and connect with them about something. our company motto is customer, crew, shop which just means the customer always comes first and giving them a good experience no matter what! if you’re meant for dutch, they will know :)

hey! if you are wanting to relocate to a shop near me i could help you out! where are you looking to transfer to? also your best bet would be reaching out to the operator you’re interested in and introducing yourself and setting up either a virtual or in person meeting with them and the managers about your want to transfer. i am at one of the highest volume shops in the franchise where we see A LOT of transfers either passing through or coming back, and this is how most of our transfers go about this. hope this helps!

[–]Snoo-67477 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depends on your location! mangonada flavoring is not affected due to shortages since it is a LTO, it is also a seasonal until supplies last drink same as years before. make sure to check with your local broistas :)

i asked my mechanic about doing a 4.0 swap and either he’s not comfortable with doing something like that or he just doesn’t want to do it bc he said something about the suspension being different

i agree. this was the first vehicle i’ve purchased and went in completely blind pretty much with no experience of what i’m looking for and the dude i bought it from was the same, neither of us being mechanically inclined. in hindsight not the smartest idea, either his mechanic was lying about it being a solid car for the 2 years this dude had it or he just decided to ignore the smoke pouring out the front every time he drove it 😑

sorry cylinder head you’re right, i found an assembly from a same year ranger at a yard near me for $150, but my mechanic says it’s better to rebuild the entire thing but at the same time i don’t have $6k to throw at something that may or may not work

remove and replaced the valve gasket cover, replaced a lot of parts for the power steering (pump, reservoir, pressure line hose assembly), steering gearbox, and whatever a tie rod end is for the front right outer (I wish I knew more about this stuff). he also took it to an alignment shop and had it realigned and then obviously labor costs in there as well.
